Cannot get gamepad to work

I am using FS-UAE in Zorin OS (ubuntu based). I have a XBox Series X gamepad connected via USB. The gamepad shows up in jstest-gtk and I can see all the buttons being pressed, dpad, triggers, etc. The gamepad shows up in FS-UAE launcher and is selected. Once running FS-UAE the gamepad also shows up in the F12 menu as the selected gamepad. However, no functionality of the gamepad is working in any game. For example, Turrican states press fire to start but no button will start a game.

Anyone happen to know the solution?

1. Does the X-box pad work properly in other apps and devices ?

2. Does it work on games on the host Linux OS ?

3. Does with work on other emulated Amiga systems ?
E.G. Do you have a Raspberry Pi, running Amibian / PiMiga
Does the pad work in that ?

4. During the FS-UAE config GUI, can you set the X-Box pad to show / work
as a CD-32 pad, then re-test. Does that make any difference ?

I use an X-Box 360 pad with FS-UAE on Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS)
without any issues - (Yes I realise they're slightly different pads).

3. Yes. I also have Amiberry on the same PC in Zorin OS and it works fine.
4. That makes no difference

5. Has this X-Box pad ever worked with your current installation of both Zorin and FS-UAE ?

6. What Linux Kernel version are you using ?

7. What version of FS-UAE are you using ?

8. Long shot - Do you dual boot / or have another PC with Linux and FS-UAE installed on it ?
If so, does your pad work with that other device ?
