it's crazy how bad Amiga games were in the beginning i am gobsmacked at both how much they underused the computer and how could anyone consider it a serious platform back then at least in regards to games i mean they're barely almost the same as many 8-biot games from Apple II

Are you changing the ram settings in the ram tab or quickstart settings tab? Have to ask, as I made that mistake at first, inserted floppy etc and later noticing the quickstart ram config still stays the same (512k) so had to retest all of them again!

I used only the quickstart settings, assuming that they would indeed be implemented on start...sorry for the wrong alarm! The quickstart settings don't seem to change anything as the actual amount of RAM is 512+512 after booting.

If you use the A1000 256k Chip RAM quickstart config this is what RAM looks like after boot:

Yeah the quick-start settings using 256k are fine, i was stating if you first selected the A1000 in quick-start it defaults to 512k, what i originally did was change the ram from the ram settings tab to 256k and go straight to floppy disks, this doesn't actually change the quick-start config tab amount of 512k.

Thanks for the clarification, guys! My approach was Start WinUAE -> Quickstart -> select A1000 -> select 256kb -> Start. This resulted in 512kb + 512kb which I did not realise when testing the games, but I'm not at all sure if I reset or restarted WinUAE at some point while doing it. Should be more careful before posting results...
