Host a website from my Amiga - Apache?
Is it possible to host a basic website from my Amiga?
It is “online”. I can sort out routing from my home ADSL router and internal network. Can sort one of those dynamic DNS things too. I think there is an old version of Apache. Is there anything else? A500 + 030 + 128Mb + 3.1.4 |

Yep, it's possible, and there are a few people who have been doing it for many years. One that I can think of is Ryu's Bambi Amiga, which is an '030-powered A1200.
There is an older version of Apache as you said that also has PHP support, ARexx can also be used for server-side scripting. Obviously this has all sorts of security implications, so just be aware of that. For simple stuff there's also W3S, a simple and efficient web server written entirely in ARexx. I have used this in the past for simple Amiga-powered home automation and it works very well. Again, ARexx can be used for server-side scripting, which makes it very powerful. |
