If this is the case, just copy these files to MUI:Libs/MUI/ MCC_TextEditor/Libs/MUI/AmigaOS3/TextEditor.mcc MCC_TextEditor/Libs/MUI/AmigaOS3/TextEditor.mcp I assume you're trying to install version 15.56, because you said you found the latest version... |

Starting with an OS 3.1 Standard you need these libraries (choose the ones suitable for your CPU): guigfx http://aminet.net/dev/misc/guigfxlib.lha render.library https://aminet.net/package/dev/misc/renderlib68k codesets.library https://aminet.net/util/libs/codesets-6.21.lha datatypes_39.11(WB3.0).library https://amiga.foul.fr/index.php TextEditor.mcc https://aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_TextEditor-15.56.lha Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 05 January 2023 at 22:25. |

@AMIGASYSTEM,
Thanks! One of my library was wrong. Now RNOEffect works on my A1200! |

What a nice program! I have been having fun with it on my Amigas for sure! A few things I have found: With some CPU intensive tasks, like the painting effect - It takes forever even on a 68040 or Vampire to process, and there is no "Status update" - it honestly just looks like the Amiga is frozen and locked up. Having a status update, or even a "Please Wait" windows or something would be awesome.
Second, I suspect it does not care about an FPU? Some effects that are quite fast in ImageFX or AdPro take a huge amount of time in RNOEffects. Having FPU support would be awesome! I am working on a review for 10 Minute Amiga Retro Cast for this awesome software! (For the 68K version) |

Do you mean the "Draw" effect by the "painting effect"? Are all "sub effects" on it slow or is it the Freehand sub effect or so? Is the slowness in the preview mode (positioning the graphics) or when you actually apply it? If it's about positioning, it could be better to enter values from keyboard/sliders instead of the mouse... I haven't tested that much on real 68k machines if there'd be something that would need optimizing as it's "fast enough" on NG machines and emulator setups. The Draw preview would probably have room for improvement. Quote:
I can prepare an FPU version to test tomorrow, and let's see if it'd be any faster in practise. Quote:

Here is the FPU version for testing:
https://jpv.amigaaa.com/RNOEffects/R...ts_68k_FPU.lha Please let me know if it seems to be noticeably faster and worth to release officially. PS. plugins are also FPU versions, so better not mix the installation with the non-FPU release. |

Thanx jPV!
I get this error message "This program requires iconic.hwp" with the FPU version. The program folder contains the iconic.hwp file and i have no problem with the non fpu version. config: 1200 030/50 & 68882/50 128MB ram |

Copied the iconic.hwp from the non fpu version to the fpu version and now the client launches properly, what exactly is the hwp file? does it have FPU magic inside? whatever it is that new file seems to be the issue even if present.
using the older hwp file and applying a blur of 32 on a 256x256 metal texture, the non fpu package took 20 seconds or so to complete the blur, the newer fpu version (using the older hwp file) also using the same texture and blur value of 32 took.... 1 second. This is on FS-UAE OS3.2.1, big speed difference already, if its faster on emulation its probably faster on the real thing, sadly i have no real amiga left to test on, my Chameleon 64 FPGA is the closest thing but i believe it cant do fpu for me to test on that, so your goona need the "real" amiga users to pitch in here for more real results. Argh, I included a wrong iconic.hwp in the FPU archive, please re-download the archive or copy the file from the non-FPU version. Sorry for the trouble.

ah so it doesnt contain any further fpu stuff? nice, the difference already between fpu and non fpu is night and day, great update, thanks
EDIT: I have put both versions in their own subfolders, NoFPU and FPU and just use a script to run the right one for me. Code:
CPU >NIL: CHECK FPU If WARN CD NoFPU RUN <>NIL: RNOEffects QUIT EndIf CD FPU RUN <>NIL: RNOEffects Last edited by DisasterIncarna; 10 September 2022 at 01:22. |

I tried the FPU version on a real A1200/030/68882, and it indeed is much faster. I made some blurring test and without FPU it took 45 secs and with FPU only 7 secs. So yeah, massive difference and I have now uploaded the FPU archive into Aminet Quote:

only asked about an undo button as i find myself constantly using the undo feature when the effect i use is too much or too little, the lack of a preview before we click apply kinda makes you do that as we cant predict what the result will be as we explore options.
