Just bought The Screen Gems Pack From eBay
Just bought The A500 Screen Gems Pack From eBay, it took me 32 years to get it back... , the last time I had it was in 1991 when I was 19, it was my first Amiga so I can guess how I feel right now... .
It never came with the games or Workbench but thats OK, I already have the games in there boxes and that, I bought them ages ago just in case I got the A500 SG Pack again, just bought the Workbench 1.3.3 disks for it so its complete and has The Very First Disk with it, thinking about it, I never got round to using it before getting rid of A500 in 1991(I swapped the A500 for a Atari ST 520, I wish I didn't, was gutted when I did straight away and when I loaded the ST Dragon Demo, Its was a demo on disk that worked on the Amiga and Atari ST, so the difference... wow, going from one to the other is like going from a Porsche to a Mini, the game was treble on the Atari ST, the Atari St has a problem with side scrolling games where it would shudered across the screen and the screen was smaller too, so after Played a few game on the ST I wish I never swapped it, that was a part of my life where I would swap things now I do not do that no more, I have a big collection now of computers and that) so I have never loaded The Very First disk before... Its now on it way so hope to get the SG Pack tomorrow or the next day, I hate the waiting... Just found a fixed image of the front of the Screen Gems Pack and how it would of looked like in 1990/1991... no wrinkles here...
Maybe it could be use here... http://www.bambi-amiga.co.uk/amigahi...creengems.html I might try and remake the back, top and bottom of the pack, now I have the sleeve so it can be printed out with a professional printer so if anyone wants to make a new sleeve for there pack, good idea...? Might be a good idea to do that with all the Commodore A500 Sleeve Packs so they can easy be replaced if any are too damaged, uses do make other things for the AMIGA like remake its motherboard, expansions and even the A500 box gets remade to keep the Amiga alive so why not its sleeves too... Theses packs are like 30 plus years old and use very thin carboard on its sleeve and why they get damaged so easily over time, the carboard on my sleeve has change colour inside the sleeve, like a old book does, looks like it was stored in a loft(attic), DO NOT EVER DO THAT, you will destroy the packaging and can even destroy the Amiga, because you are storing it in a very cold then a warm place and NEVER store it in the shed in your garden, mould can grow on it cause the packaging is made from wood, you need to store it in your house, store it at the same temp you would of used it in, not -5c, if you don't then do not think it will still work after storing it in there for 10 plus years because most Amigas don't work, its like putting it in a freezer so water will land on it from the air because of the temperature changes... I'm glad that you found useful my recreation of the Screen Gems pack front cover! Please be aware that since I don't own the sleeve it was done by studying photos of it usually from auctions on eBay! As such is not/can not be 100% accurate. Saying that, I reckon it will be a good start to create a replacement sleeve for your machine.
I always appreciated it when my work is referenced to also include a link to my page. So, for anyone that wants to download the full quality image file simply visit my website: https://amigaposters.github.io/amiga...gems-pack.html |
