ShapeShifter+GVP'040+GuruROM+RTG

Hello all.

I recently switched from using the native GVPCPUCtrl program to MmuLibs. The latest version is currently installed. In addition, I am using MuFastROM, MuFastZero and "MMuMove4k PrepareEmul" specifically for ShapeShifter.

I hadn't noticed it before but when using only GVPCPUCtrl, I was missing the 68040.library. I tried adding the GVP 68040.library but this would cause a recoverable error on boot. In short, the system was not running at peak performance and it may have resulted in other odd behavior with emulation.

MMULibs fixed all of that (all caches enabled and I gained 10 MIPS) but now I have a new problem. ShapeShifter does not seem to play nice with a hardfile attached. I tried using my existing hardfiles from the past, some fresh downloads, and also created a new one in S.S. but it crashes immediately when starting the emulation. I have attached the error that pops up on my Workbench screen.

I am able to successfully boot from an attached 100MB SCSI ZIP disk (created from a System 7.1 ZIP 100 image found online). This too can be problematic but it does at least boot all the way up.

My goal is to format the new hard file I created and then transfer the contents of the ZIP disk over to it so that I can just boot from the faster hardfile.

Ohh, I almost forgot. Since my GVP '040 has the GuruROM, I am also using MuOMNISCSIPatch since it would seem to have some relevance to my setup. Then again, it may not be necessary at all for me.

Also worth noting, hardfiles worked fine when I was only using GVPCPUCtrl. I had some other problem in ShapeShifter that I cannot recall now.

Gahh! I forgot to mention also that this Amiga is an A2000 running OS 3.2.2.1. I understand PreparEmul is no longer required since Kickstart 3.1.4. Is that also true if using MMULibs?

You need to run at least MuMove4K Prepareemul to create a resource that announces to shapeshifter that the low 32K are available, even if it then does not do much except this announcement. The Alert #6 you see is a "CHK exception", but that is not very telling. It just means that the code went bezerk and just executed some junk. Please make sure that the 68040.library is actually loaded.
Is there some additional Zorro-II RAM in the system? This should be marked "non-cacheable, serial, imprecise" for GVP (and also P5) boards.

Understood on MuMove4K.

The 68040.library (as well as 680x0.library) appear to be loaded. Both are acknowledged by Scout and SysInfo.

No additional Zorro RAM, only what is on the GeForce '040 board. It is maxed out to 64MB.
