Keep licensing talk for programming questions on-topic
The English Amiga Board already protects rights owners - see forum rules. No piracy talk about Kickstart ROMs, Workbench disks - not to mention the 100000 pieces of software released for it, and counting! <3
However, off-topic licensing talk dissuades developers from writing or releasing software for the Amiga. In the coding forums, if you personally are not a rights owner de jure - do not suggest that a file or function is protected by rights - you may appear as giving legal advice. This includes whether or not the file or function is required by the OS to provide basic functionality, e.g. on bootable media, hardware driver patches, the writing of diagnostic ROMs to replace the Kickstart entirely, software patches for library functions, software to map functions to RAM or otherwise make them resident, and much more. We rely on this to make Amiga possible today. Make sure to suggest programming solutions before impossibilities, and if you have no solution, do not share the impossibility to discourage devs. |
