I eat and drink next to my PC, but my laptop is elevated anyway At best I have to shake some junk out of my keyboard every now and then.

I don't think I ever did near the Amiga. We were kids, and as kids we had literally no control over our limbs so we bumped things over all the times, causing us to have very strict rules when it came to where and when we could drink stuff. Essentially downstairs, while sitting down.

Wow.. what an awesome father.
Back in the day, when I was kid, I would never thought of having motherboard under shower (or any part, except pure plastic), because.. you know... electric parts and water shouldn't mix... later, I saw that many people clean it that way.

@Dunny
And it worked all the time you were drying her? 1 full hour?
Any specific reason why you didn't turned it off right away?

It never occurred to me to switch it off

And yeah it was on and running the whole time, just the display was gone - I could hear the audio from the demo's endpart. It was amazing to watch the display come back slowly over the course of an hour - if it hadn't started flickering after a couple of minutes I might have given up.

Thanks for all the replies guys, very interesting.

On another note ... *Note to self: do not create self-fulfilling prophecy threads.

I just spilt my large mug of milk tea over my A1200

Yeah he was pretty cool about it.

Showering the motherboard would not have been my first intuition either, but hey if it works it works

I still do... I don't want to treat this Amiga like something out of a museum that is never used as it was originally intended.

I even managed to break the CD32 joystick port the other week! Last time I did that was in my teens on my A600HD!

I never had that habit but I never had a self-imposed rule against it either. Even today, if I have a lengthy meeting, I might be chewing on my lunch while others are talking. I haven't had a food/drink related computer accident in my life.

But in all honesty I do occasionally eat and drink near my Amiga(s). Not over the top of it like, but in front of it. I'm careful like so feel I don't need a rule that forbids me to do so as it's infrequent.

I wouldn’t do that.
I use to drink shots of vodka when losing at Dynablaster with 3 other mates, but that was 1994...
Now I even remove my shoes and my hat before entering into the Amiga cave…
