Reach For The Skies
Would be nice to have this decent game added to the WHDLoad family, recently tried to install it on the A1200 and encountered problems running it from HD..
I`m guessing this game uses the same engine as "Overlord" also by Rowan Software which I know Psygore made a patch for. Any chance of completing the collection Psygore http://hol.abime.net/1203 Last edited by lordofchaos; 18 May 2014 at 17:36. |

To coin a phrase from the modern internet lexicon. Bump? Looking at the WHDLoad site I can see that Galahad was working on a slave, at 90% completion.

Hello, are there any news for Reach for the Skies?
I am waiting badly for years for the game coming to WHDLoad. This is one of the best combat flight sims on the Amiga. Thank you Galahad, Psygore, StingRay and the rest of our WHD Heroes. |

This was actually one of the coolest dogfighting games on the Amiga, with a real sensation of speed, plus the ability to play the campaign as a pilot or commander (or both?). A bit of an unsung hero in my opinion. (Well, a lot of one, actually). :-)

however i think that if you play with game as WHDLoad inside AmigaOS, better to install to HD.

Dawn Patrol - Reach for the Skies
I really love Dawn Patrol and Overlord from Rowan Software.
http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-...-00066-EN.html It would be awesome if we could have Reach for the Skies (also from Rowan) as WHDLoad game after all those years. Last edited by Striker01; 08 October 2020 at 12:02. Reason: update |

What I found frustrtating was that Reach for The Skies ran really nicely on an accelerated 1200, and I expected Overlord to be similar, but it was really slow in comparison, I don't know what they did to the engine, but I wish they hadn't.

Fancied playing Reach for the Skies last night, and couldn't see it in my WHDLoad drawer... and now discovered this thread! |

See if you can get him to speed it up a bit, while he's at it. That will p*ss him off. :-)

I've been writing in a thread about Dynamic Campaigns, today about Flight of the Intruder, and it's connection to Reach for the Skies, and thought this maybe of interest:
--------------------------------------------- The full article is here: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari...der_24236.html That's one of the reason why I love The One - they had some really good background on the games they went on to review. I'm also thinking that Reach For the Skies and Flight of the Intruder are more closely related than I had previously thought. They were both being developed by Rowan at the same time and they both allow you to play as a pilot or as an Air Controller, with presumably some shared AI routines. Certainly there are some marked similarities in the graphics and general approach of the games. |
