The A2500 before the Commodore A2500 ??

I seem to recall watching a YouTube video about the history of Amiga Computers.

Along the way, I defiantly recall a segment about a company that purchased Amiga 2000's and did some sort of upgrade, change, fix, something?, and then sold them as Amiga 2500's. I may have then number wrong.

But Commodore could not do anything legal to stop them for a while.

After about a year maybe, Commodore came out with an official A2500, and this forced the upstart company to close up shop.

I can not find this video any longer. My memory might be failing me now. I watched this video probably 5-6 years ago. But I have been googling and you-tubing for a couple days and I find mention of this upstart company anywhere.

Anyone out there and any idea of what I am writing about?

Stephen Jones did the A1500 by buying A500 packs and making their own cases. It was then known as a Checkmate 1500. Commodore then hit back with their own version of a A1500 (an A2000 without certain boards and Hard Drive). Now a days Stephen Jones has re-imagined the idea again and the case resembles an A3000 where you can insert Most Amiga Wedge motherboards etc..
