Prince of Persia
Hi all,
I found several Prince of Persia adfs that I tried to put back on disk because I am using my old Amiga 500 + 512K expansion. Well, when I try to load the game for some reason I always get an UNEXPECTED LOAD EXCEPTION error on screen that appears after the initial Cracker Intro. I didn't try all the versions but 3 or 4 of them give the same result. Has anybody ever had a similar issue? Cheers from Italy, Ivan |

Same issue Loads for some time after the initial cracker menu, then blue screen with the name of the cracker and it stops. Mouse click and then same blue screen with UNEXPECTED LOAD EXCEPTION. |

Maybe your 512k expansion ram is bad?
Try Keir's Testkit to test your Amiga: https://github.com/keirf/amiga-stuff...tKit-v1.18.zip |

I have no problems with other games so I don't think so. Maybe it's a problem with the way I create the disk from the adf, but again I have no issues with other images. I split the adf in 2 halves and I write the first half to the first 40 tracks and the second half to tracks 40 to 79, this is done with transdisk (and messysdos to read the pc disk). EDIT: Just read your update, i will give it a try thanks! |

When I was younger I had a weird A600 that worked with 80% of the games out there but gave issues with some games, citing "out of memory" when erroring out. Never found out what was the root cause since the motherboard was thrown out while I wasn't looking
Anyway, most games can work and only some can trigger errors on faulty hardware. |

Mmmmh all tests are ok. I let the memory test run to round 300 and something before stopping it (does it ever stop by itself?)

Does the disk read back OK in X-Copy Checkdisk, all green 0's?

Your machine is either faulty or you have problem with your kick version and the crack.

Nothing, same issue. Quote:
So my kick is 1.3 (34.5). Memory is 0.5 onchip + 0.5 slow. MB rev I don't know, is there a label on the board? Amiga test kit doesn't tell that. Chipsets IDs, ATK reports Denise/Lisa ffff and Agnus/Alice 0000. But those are IDs not revisions, should I check on the MB for those revisions too? EDIT: The schematic on the manual says that I have the Fat Agnus 8370. Thanks! Last edited by Ivan78; 09 January 2022 at 18:07. |

I've just zoned the version I use but, as other people say, probably there are some issues with your A500. I had similar issues with a bad Kickstart ROM.

Persia English BETA
I have a suspicion this will cure your problem, give it a try and let me know.
I think its the games flakey disk system, so thats been solved by single filing the entire game. Strictly a BETA version, if this works I have maybe a plan for Prince of Persia. Check out the zone and download PERSIABETA.ADF |

And in just a little over 300kb. Pretty rad!
I imagine you've already compressed it internally since ProPack could only squeeze out an extra 1.5kb. |

Propack took it from over 400K to 300K, but once Ivan confirms this works, I have a cunning plan to take it further
