I just gave you the "Base install plus "Update Packs #1 - 40" incorporated" a week or so ago... You only have a few "Update Packs" to apply manually; and my instructions are very clear / simple... and without mistakes Quote:
Anyway, nothing should need to be deleted by malko's script; the new .PNG should be extracted over the old ones. That is correct; a lot of updates in that pack were just the .HDF; as I only updated AHI settings. Last edited by DamienD; 21 November 2020 at 01:05. Reason: ...fixed spelling mistakes |

As a side note; this is why at the start of the thread I said that there's no need for someone else to write a script.
Mistakes can / will happen. ...and I don't check / verify malko's script; EVER. You use at your own risk. I have enough to do with actually updating my collection; and making sure the instructions that I send out are 100% correct. If someone interprets them incorrectly; well, sorry to say but not my problem. I really don't have time to check / verify others' work in relation to my own... I'll add to the above...
Ok, so with each "Update Pack" you guys might have to spend a few minutes applying by following my detailed instructions Just for a second, think about everything I have to do in order to bring these to you... Some of these takes weeks to put together i.e. research, download, extract, install, sometimes apply patches / add custom windows / trainers, work out / create / tweak configurations, created titles / screenshots, test / retest, create the WinRAR archive, work out / write detailed instructions, upload, and finally distribute. There are probably other steps I've forgotten to mention... I also provide "Base install plus "Update Packs #1 - xx" incorporated" every 10 x "Update Packs". I'm really at a loss as to how I can make it any easier for you, you already get it on a silver platter Last edited by DamienD; 21 November 2020 at 01:00. |

Anyway, i was curious of the script (and wanted to try the partial install approach) and it was a good way to check that i didn't missed anything and to help malko debug his script. My message was not a bug report for your collection (i'm in the process of trying it, and i've yet to find a bug ), just a bug report to the malko script |

I got to thinking about this..
From a fresh full pack to updates... you could extract the updates in reverse order and then extract the full pack and just don't overwrite anything? May get an occasional extra file, but it would probably not be a problem? Thoughts? |

You would get duplicates as @DamienD often renames a game so that it's name is corrected. This would then create duplicates of the same game with slightly different names. I've got the Packs 1-30 bundle, then all subsequent updates, along with a text file containing all of the update instructions, in case I ever have to reinstall it. Unless you're regularly rebuilding your PC, you only have to follow the process once - and then if you were doing a regular rebuild, you could follow it once to get up to a certain level, then zip up the folder as your own "base" installation. This is what I do... when a new "Update Pack" is released, firstly I unzip the last complete WinRAR'd files, apply the "Update Pack" and then re-WinRAR |

Several months have passed since the last update of the reInstallDDWC script.
Not that maintaining it was hard but, as I was not fully happy with it, I decided to rewrite it. And you know : real life is running faster than spare time... But the worst thing is that our beloved DD has not been idle during this time. And to say that he kept complaining that it was difficult to find new additions... So, this small message to let you know that the rewrite of the script is slowly (but surely) coming to an end and I am expecting to be able to deliver the new version before the end of April . New version is of course : better, smarter, verboser, nicer Edit: A small imponderable is delaying the deadline. Edit 2: I was able to track down the imponderable and fix it. Now enhancing the script with some ANSI drawing Edit 3: A new thread will be opened regarding the new version of the script. More information to follow... Edit 4: New thread here : https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=107012 Last edited by malko; 22 May 2021 at 23:56. |
