Panasonic JU-253-01P Jumpers ???

Found a Floppy Drive in my box of bits:

It only has 1 jumper in the middle of 5 pairs ???

Plugged in it just gives DF0:???

How many jumpers should it have and in what positions
--- there are no obvious markings visable...

I think only some revisions of these Panasonic drives were real Amiga e.g. revision 253-043P I believe came with some A600.

Was this from an Amiga? I wonder whether it is a PC drive that may require correct jumper setting and/or drive mld to make it work on the Amiga.

Can you see what the jumpers relate to?

You need to set RDY jumper (Amiga needs it) and another jumper as DS0 (PC I'm sure is DS1).

Hope this helps.

Update: @solarmon had a similar issue and had some progress on this thread (not exact revision as yours but worth testing it out nonetheless):

Only if I strip it right down ---

IE unplug the Red + Yellow connectors

Which I could --- but I don't fancy my chances at reconnecting

Ah well, back to the box

Is that model number correct? Did you mean JU-253-201P?

OK. I've only come across "JU-253-201P" and can't find anything about "JU-253-01P"

Can you provide a decent picture of the underside of the drive so that we can see the board layout.

I have a Panasonic JU-253-03T that came out of an Amiga 500. It looks identical but who knows what is different. On the jumper block there is a jumper on the first set on the far left and a jumper on the far right. So basically the two ends have jumpers with the 3 sets in the middle empty.

Hope that helps but no guarantees it will mean the same on your drive.

No difference with jumpers at each end...

I think I got this with my 600 and assumed it came from that 600 ???
Spare/Defective ???

Maybe not !
Maybe PC for conversion ?

I see C18/R64 has gone walkies

The picture is not clear enough for me to make out the traces going to the jumper pads.

But if C18 is damaged, and R64 is missing (and with a missing pad) then that may stop it working correctly anyways.
