A1000 ROM Mod Install (Single Board A1K)
I can't take credit for the mod, or for the work to fit it! The board was created by EzdineG and details can be found here: https://amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?t=540
The board itself was made and sold to me by DjCook on Amibay (who I suspect may be 8 Bit Dreams here on EAB - either way, cheers man!). Finally, the work was carried out by Daedalus here on EAB, the man has skills The link above has instructions for doing this mod on the A1000's which have the daughterboard, the below shows how to perform the same mod on the Single Board A1000's. Here is an overview of the mainboard, with the areas we need to work in highlighted: RED: U6N DAUGCAS - Remove chip and fit socket, lifting Pin 17 - http://www.indigolemon.co.uk/linkedi...6N_DAUGCAS.jpg BLUE: Remove existing ROMS - http://www.indigolemon.co.uk/linkedi...ylead_ROMS.jpg YELLOW: Attach flylead (Pin 13 of U4S - DAUGEN) http://www.indigolemon.co.uk/linkedi...ylead_ROMS.jpg GREEN: 4.8kohm resistor across pins 1 and 20 of U3J or U4J - http://www.indigolemon.co.uk/linkedi...om/U3J_U4J.jpg And boom - you're done. Now have an HC533 running happily in my A1000 with a Kick 3.1 ROM Last edited by indigolemon; 30 July 2018 at 10:56. |

Nice job!
However I must say, daughterboard or not doesn't imply PAL/NTSC. I've had five A1000s in my life, all PAL, only one of them didn't have the daughterboard. |

Congrats on getting this mod done! Good to see it out in the wild.
Note that there’s a newer revision of this board that fits a second kickstart rom and a 3 pole switch to to select which ROM is active. You can get the gerbers from the hardware subforum here on EAB or Amigalove to make boards for yourself or get premade boards from Djcook(EU) or Acill(US) and fit it in place of your existing board with no further mods. |

DJCook mentioned the dual ROM version was out there now. Once more, nice work on that! |

Hi All,
I am looking at threads to try to see the best way to do a mod for just a single ROM (the Romulator). I have a different Rev as to the one shown above so i am not sure how this mod would be affected. It is a NTSC Rev6 motherboard. Here is a picture of the daughterboard. It seems that the chip in question i need to remove/alter is on the underside of the daughterboard. Has anyone done the ROM mod for this version that has any insight into what is required ? Last edited by kipper2k; 06 August 2019 at 20:46. |

Hey, Kipper.
I believe we’re talking about the same daughterboard revision where I did the mod here: https://www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=540 Let me know if I can be of any further help. |

Here is my first attempt at the design for the A1k Kickstart and Rom adapter plate. Obviously it doesnt have a switch for dual ROM as that would be futile Don't go copying it yet, i am not sure if this is correct. Many thanks for the help EzdineG.

Unfortunately I don't own an Amiga 1000 (was the first Amiga I ever saw and set me on the path), but I'm pretty sure my Flash Kickstart Relocator project might be interesting for those wanting the capability of (flashable) kickstarts not on the Amiga Motherboard;
https://github.com/PR77/68000_Relocator_FLASH_Kickstart Although this hasn't been designed for the Amiga 1000, I believe some concepts could be considered. |
