Shadow of the Beast 4 for Amiga?. Could be possible?.
Hello!
Maybe it's a bit delirious what I'm going to say, but a long time ago I was thinking about making a Shadow of the beast 4 or some game with same mechanichs and puzzles for Amiga. Problem is I'm not coder, but I could perform the role of making the graphics. I have a some of story in mind for the game, also. Which are the chances to make a team and make this happen?. (I know this is a hard work, and I understand if you laugh at my post) Thanks and happy new year to everyone!!! PS: (sorry for my bad english) Last edited by Hache; 03 January 2019 at 17:47. Start by doing some graphics, so you can show what you can do and engage and make people interested in you project.

In adittion, I'm the guy who made all the graphics and animations for 'The Dream of Rowan'. Also I made the animated intro and the ending scene. So you can see all my work there making graphics/animations for an Amiga game. And from making this game until today, I think I have improved my work.

I am not sure. SotB has always state of the art pixel graphics. The Dream of Rowan looks mostly like rendered graphic with reduced number of colors using dithering.

For many SotB is "A" reference. I am sure you know it .
Apart that you risk a lot with a sequel with this name (I mean from SotB's fans), as far as I am aware of, the Psygnosis catalogue is the actual property of SONY. Not sure if they would appreciate a sequel without their consent (even on a "retro"-platform). Better to make the game you want without naming it SotB. source : How Shadow of the Beast on PS4 is honouring the Amiga original |

Hello Hache, Shadow Of the Beast III is considered technically as one of the most impressive games of the entire AMIGA OCS catalog, only together with brian the lion, apydia, elfmania, Lionheart ... and all those coding-gems of the time.
I doubt very much, that someone today has the desire to get into a project of that size. Our beloved AMIGA scene is not like the 8bits Scenes, where today you can see impressive things with a quality never seen at the 8bit-time. We (Amiga users) have to settle for seeing new things with less quality than at the time. It is very sad, yes. I hope I'm wrong but we will never see titles for our dear Amiga with the high-level we saw in the glorious era. Shadow of the beast III runs at 50fps with dual playfield/parallax moving big sprites/bobs, tons of sceneraios, big bosses, a lot of enemies, a big tile-map, puzzles, logic, sound effects and music in a stock A500. When was the last game you saw with that technical quality in AMIGA 500? Yep! 25 years ago! now you know why. |

The PS4 version of this video game, also allows you to play the original Amiga classic version. I think this was a good touch on the developers side. Respecting where these classic quality titles originated.
As for your idea for producing a quality game on the retro Amiga platform, I do not think it is as far fetched as some might state. I caused a storm on here talking about whether Resident Evil could be possible, on Amiga. Some members seem to think it could be, while others were stating copyright issues. This is a fact, that if copyright still exists, you would be better to avoid using such titles etc. TBH, you should offer the retro Amiga scene an original idea for an Amiga game, one that has never been done before. Even better if you produce a video game that wasn't thought possible, on such old tech! Remember games like Myst, such genius, although the work behind such a title was incredible, to state the least. |

Just do some mock ups of what you have in mind...
Maybe you will find some coder that is interested in working with you. Other than that, yeah, it's nice to want things, even if they don't materialize just because of it... |
