Missed some of the shitstorm coming my way (from you @Damien ;-) so allow me to clear it up a bit.
You made it look as if I somehow dislike WinUAE or don't count WinUAE users as legit. But that was never my intent. Everyone knows it's an pretty much essential tool these days to get your real hardware going. I of course use it too for various stuff. BUT --> I was commenting on potential sources that would indicate a certian number of users. My point in this was that I'm reluctant to lean on something like number of WinUAE "users" or more specifically downloads (how else would you count?) since it so easy to download athe software and never do anything with it. In *MY* opinion, Its a safer bet that people fiddling with actual hardware, spending money are also active users. It dosn't disqualify WinUAE users who can conveniently develop Amiga stuff in WinUAE on their PC.. And as @plasmab pointed out, we went into this with vague definition of "active" so everyone will look at this in their own way.. |
