WinUAE on Hyper-V Lessons Learned.

after a week of trying, I've come to the conclusion that WinUAE with full pcap networking (a2065) will not function on a Hyper-V VM (Host 2012r2 / Guest 2012R2).
Tried WinPcap, Win10Pcap, and think the other was called LibPcap (too lazy to go to other machine to look). I tried the various Microsoft KB procedures for setting up promiscuous capture from hyper-V virtual switch to the vm. No joy.

Moved WinUAE from guest machine to host, to host. installed winpcap. setup nic. launched WinUAE and cnet bbs was up almost instantly (ok, maybe it was about 30-45 seconds). so it's definitely issue between vswitch and vm's nic.

notes:
1. WinUAE with pcap networking, works just fine running side by side with Hyper-V ( with 3 VM's running).

2. Wasn't able to exceed 150% CPU as shown by WinUAE (even with the guest machines shut down) even on server class machine. Curious if this is a deliberate limitation on the emulation or something else?

testing was on a Dell R420 with 2x 16 core CPU's and 64 GB ram running server 2012r2.

WinUAE in a VM has always been something I wanted to try. What is typical vCPU load on such VM ?

Not too surprising with a virtual switch.
Can you try a dedicated NIC for the VM? Even if it's a cheap USB ethernet adapter?

Tuko - Not much. I tried 2/4/6 vCPU without much difference. With nothing else running other than the OS, I didn't see more than about 20-30% CPU.

nogginthenog - couldn't assign a dedicated NIC without a vswitch,
