A1200 modification to prevent Indivision popping out
I never was able to get Indivision mechanically stable enough by regular mounting on Lisa,
so I tried something different. I took a 84-pin PLCC chip, and cut out its center using a Dremel and a small side cutter blade, this was quick enough to do. With the die removed (and the inside if the chip cleaned), there are no connections between pins anymore, except some added capasistance of course. Then I straightened out is J-shaped legs (I put it upside down in a PLCC socket to ease this job), and then put it on top of Lisa. The straightened legs are long enough to overlap a little with Lisa's legs, and easy to solder together after adjusting each pin + cleaning. Finally added some stickers on top, and installed Indivision and Gayle board, and as the new chip now fills the whole of the Indivision and Gayle PLCC sockets, the mechnanical connection is now (at least in my case) much better. I have done some initial testing, and have not seen any problems yet. |
