3D Printed case for my CF-IDE card
Merging 2 of my hobbies!! ;-)
A while ago, I got a tomthul IDE card for my Amiga 1000. Basically, it plugged into the side of my A1000 and it had a dual CF/IDE adapter with 2 CF cards. Worked great (I use kickwork to boot from 1 floppy (floppy image now with a Gotek) that then loads the driver and transfers control to the CF card to boot). But it was just a card sticking out of the side of my A1000. I also not too long ago got a 3D printer (Monoprice Select Mini 3D) so I thought I'd try to work on a case for it.. Came up with this: I think it came out pretty nice, as I have less than 0 ability with design. (Well, almost..) desiv |

Yeah it looks great. Does it fit inside the A1000? I guess it doesn't. Can you please take a picture while plugged in?

So much nicer than a bare card.
I guess with a MicroSD sized card, the expansion wouldn't be much larger than the edge connector to attach it with... You putting the 3D model files out or keeping them, as a matter of interest? |

It's a pretty small number of people, I think, who have tomthul's board... Anyone who wants the STLs can have em.. They are just press fit right now, which seems to be working, but I've been wondering if I should add screw holes or something better.. (I also have a crazy possible long term plan to move the LCD and buttons for my Gotek to this case somewhere, but not sure on that one.. ;-) Also note: I believe Tom cut that card edge connector by hand, so it might not fit exactly for yours. You can do as I do when designing.. 1: Measure twice before you design it!!.. 2: Get two different numbers.. 3: Keep measuring until you get the same number twice. 4: Design and print. 5: Find out how far off it is, adjust and print again. 6: Repeat step 5 as necessary.. :-) desiv Last edited by desiv; 23 June 2017 at 22:00. |

Nice list, I'll try to implement it always, before a release. |
