Any reason to get newer indivision AGA for 1200?
Hello,
Returning vet here. Recently got my A1200.net Scoopex edition replacement case in after a year and a half wait and am now once again interested in Amiga things. Is there any advantage to the Indivision AGA MKII CR over my first gen, first run Indivision AGA card or would replacing it be a waste of money? I would like the DVI connector option plus the one I have had to be sanded down to sit on the chip correctly and pops off when the computer is moved often. |

AGA 2 allows you to use the xtreme 1280x1024 monitor driver. The DVI output is noticeably better quality than the AGA's VGA. The AGA2 is much more configurable when it comes to the output of PAL/NTSC games. The AGA just 'works' when it comes to 50hz stutter free PAL gaming, the AGA2 requires time and effort to get a 50hz stutter free image.
I have the AGA2 in my A1200 and the AGA in my 4000. |

Ah, but did you download one of the preset configs from the threads on here... or did you configure it yourself whilst repeatedly beating your skull on a brick wall trying to decipher the obfuscated prefs with next to no documentation?
When it works it works beautifully. |

Would you mind pointing a poor soul to the configuration you're currently using? TIA |

Thanks for the replies. One of my main issues with the original indivision AGA is that it is very picky with the monitors I have plugged it into. Older tube VGA monitors work great but the LCD models have been hit and miss. Yes, gaming seems to work great. I am about 50% games and 50% desktop apps so. I will probably just get the new one as it isn't terribly expensive.

Thanks Trixter I will keep that thread handy. Reading through it, it seems that people are confusing "artifacts" with actual indivision AGA issues. Every Amiga 1200 I have ever owned has had trouble displaying in highgfx until about 15 minutes after it is powered on and then the artifacts clear up. There are several threads on it here. Even had the issue with external scan doublers, it is something inside the Amiga itself.
