Issue with Gotek / Cortex
I'm not sure if this is normal but if I boot my Amiga 1200 with no USB memory stick inserted into my Cortex flashed gotek it takes an age to boot as it tries to read df0 then shows DF0: Unreadable on workbench.
Is it not supposed to act like an empty drive (no disk inserted) like a real floppy drive ? Obviously I can leave a memory stick in the drive with a non-bootable ADF at location 001 that will fix that issue. I can only assume this is a firmware issue with cortex, does Hxc firmware do the same thing ? |

The HxC flashed Gotek is working fine.
I have no idea why the Cortex drive always thinks there is a disk in it, I'll try a re-flash and if that fails I'll buy another Gotek. |

I get the same behavior.
Gotek with no USB in it will show "df0:???" in WB, will delay boot. I'm guessing the HxC firmware is terminating the signal when there's no USB instead of leaving it floating. This is the same behaviour you get when your drive doesn't work or when you disconnect it. |

That's strange. I don't have the HxC firmware (yet) just the Cortex and I don't get that behaviour. No USB = no Wb icon.

I could explain that if you happen to be using it as I will describe:
If your device only has the GOTEK and you load WB from the Gotek, when you remove the USB, the system will not show another icon. WB disk icon must remain (as it was the boot device). Now if this happens when you have a hard drive and boot from hard drive, then I would be very surprised to the different behavior. So, those who said there's no "DF0:???" icon on Workbench, how did you boot Workbench? |

Ah, Understood. No, I boot from Hard Disk and I have a DF1: (standard Amiga Floppy drive External) That's probably it. And even though I have HDD, when I do occasionally boot from WB floppy (via GoTek hdd autoboot switch off) I do see that the WB icon stays there when ejected.

I have an IDE to SD adapter and so I boot os3.9 from a micro sd card (32gb) on the A600.
I also have an A1200 with a Gotek drive but It's HxC firmware so there's no problem there. I don't have the tools to flash this my self else I suppose HxC firmware for the a600 would solve the problem. |
