Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
Just to remind myself, Cheops (Ady Hirst coder of Raiden) also started work on Pitfall: Mayan Adventure.
I saw it running on his Amiga. He had retained all the animation from the Megadrive version, and had to compress every frame to ensure it could work on Amiga. No I don't have a copy of it, I only saw the first level of the game. |

Wasn't that a major Microsoft Win95 release?

Galahad: Port of the Mega Drive or 32x version.
Downloaded both and the 32x version looks a lot nicer . I would say the SNES version is between the Mega Drive and the 32x version. |

MegaDrive version was the basis of the conversion.

Amiga will never die!

Oh man, why couldn't this have been completed and released for the Amiga? It was a great game, very popular back when it came out.
AAAAAARRRGH!!! I'd be happy just to be able to play the unfinished first level of the game, just to see it running on an Amiga. |

@Galahad So did he?
Well, I'd rather be interested what became out of that Raiden hype! Could he rescue the data, hasn't he managed yet to get the data because of lacking hardware, questions, questions ... Quote:
Well, then I don't understand why you didn't ask him about Raiden. |

andreas, Galahad most probably saw it years ago and didn't bother asking about Raiden at the time.

I wonder, that Pitfall is/was to be named 'Mayan Adventure'.
In 1985/1986 there was a TI-99/4a program printed in a german magazine and the program was called 'Maya'. That program was a clone of Pitfall. ???? Cheers, Rick |

Get the zombie powder out!!
It is so sad that this has gone missing from the world, of course you didn't need a Pentium chip to do a game like that. An Amiga 1200 could easily have been as good as the awkward sounding choppy scrolling but nicely animated Win 95 version. I would have loved to see this demo, put it next to Super Stardust AGA and a Pentium 133mhz PC £1500 which is min spec needed to run the PC version almost as smoothly (120mhz if you play with keyboard but 'frak that sheet man' said Starbuck) |

Is somebody in contact with Adrian Hirst? I think it would be really interesting to know how finished Pitfall The Mayan Adventure for the A1200 actually was. I also remember reading in German Amiga magazines about it back then, so maybe even some magazines had copies.
Even if we'll probably never see this getting released because of Activision I think there should really be some effort to at least get more details (and maybe screen shots) about the state of the A1200 version of Pitfall. Was it just level 1 or was it really pretty much finished? |
