Best standard Amiga 1200 games
Hi.
Was wondering what the best games were that were coded for the Amiga 1200 and shows if its full potential i.e full speed scrolling in 256 colours. I only really played Mortal Kombat II, Syndicate (2 disk version), Aladdin, Lion King, UFO Enemy Unknown CD32 version, Raiden preview and Banshee. I also had a look at Capital punishment. Please only games the games that you considered the best and ran on a standard A1200 with 2mb Chip Ram (0 Fast). HD supported would also be nice. Thanks |

As you mentioned Aladdin and Lion King were nice, not perfect but nice releases at the time, there's not a massive AGA only title range to choose from, most were upgrades or dual releases or needed extra hardware, saying that Banshee, Pinball Illusions, Slam Tilt, Guardian, Roadkill, Super Stardust were all great AGA only games.

Syndicate and Mortal Kombat didn't have AGA versions AFAIR...
Worms: Director's Cut was AGA only and excellent. |

I recently came across Chaos Engine 2 AGA, and after 20 years of not playing it, I finally gave it a serious go, and it's really good (graphics are great, game is a mix between Chaos Engine & Speedball II: once you see it that way, it's great)

Super Stardust and Xtreme Racing (though this really needs a boost to use 2x1 pixel mode)

@Daedalus: Yes I know MK II and syndicate were not AGA releases but those were some of the few games from my A500 that I played on my A1200.
Would of been interesting to see if Syndicate would be possible in 256 colours on a std A1200. Right will look at Super Stardust, Chaos Engine II and Overkill. What about the Team 17 games any recommendations? The HOL pics of them look nice but I remember playing body blows on my Amiga 500, it looked really nice. I had the FLT crack and Backlash Trainer of Chaos Engine on my A500 so will be interested in the 2nd version. Thanks guys |

Talking of Team 17 AGA games: Arcade Pool AGA, Worms DC are nice too (maybe needs extra RAM). There aren't much AGA Team 17 games around but those are slick
(and other ECS Team 17 games already look like AGA already ) @vulture: being a huge Bitmap Bros fan (I think you can't be a greater fan than me actually, I remade 3 of their games, maybe Kroah can compete), I couldn't let down CE2 completely. If you're expecting Chaos Engine : new levels, you're disappointed. that's probably what happened in the first place for me and a lot of other people. |

Pinball Illusions and especially Slam Tilt are so well working AGA titles that I wouldn't miss them, even if pinball doesn't sound that interesting
Super Stardust is a good show off. Banshee looks great too, but I've always found it too hard to play Roketz is pretty sweet gravity game. Worms DC is the best Worms incarnation Brian The Lion and Kid Chaos have nice AGA versions too.. T-Zer0 is marvellous looking shooter, but hmm.. might require an accelerator. |

ST user here so I have a different bias - from my perspective:
ST bias: Frontier Elite 2 - while an OCS game runs better on A1200 and still shows off the power +1 for Super Stardust (Stardust STE was great, SSD is much better) My recos for Stock A1200: Alien Breed II Worms Directors Cut Also Looks interesting: Subwar 2050 Roadkill Would like to hear more input from folks on this post... |
