[abime.net] server migration in 3 days !
Dear community,
To speed up and clean the abime.net services, I have planned one migration next week ! The operating system of the server will be reinstalled from scratch, and the hardware will move to a new NetCenter. (GlobalSwitch - Paris) The new network connectivity will be even better for international users with direct peering on MCI and Level3. Reinstallation of the Linux core system will clean and speed the OS and websites. For the event, I have already migrated the IRC and Mail services to a new server, so you won't be lost and will be able to have fresh news and speak with your friends during the downtime You can also expect to see a new IRC homepage, updated EAB & HOL, and PHP5 for hosted webmaster Well, I hope everything will go well, and that you will enjoy it! Your admin, RCK. |

Thanks RCK for the update and all the time you have spent over the past years setting up EAB and the abime network. BTW: I've made this thread Sticky |

That's brilliant news - hope the transition is smooth and look forward to the updates
Just wished Web User Forums board would do something with there website - adverts are so intrusive and the layout is confusing.... explains why I asked for answers to my last PC problem in "off-topic"!! |

Thanks for the update RCK, I'm sure the services will be much faster once this migration is completed

I second that ... although ...
RCK could you please clear the IRC window if no one can log on to IRC? Otherwise it's very confusing as you really think someone is in the chatroom(s) ... Currently I think no one can log on, although I might be wrong ... |

Thanks for the reply RCK, I fixed my MIRC it was indeed reading off an old cache, which I do not understand (let alone a way how to clear it) but now I've cloned the network group and it works

If you use firefox then try this:
Goto Tools, Options Click Content and untick enable javascript This speeds things up as it disables irc script from loading |

Faulty IRC script removed ATM, sorry for this.
IRC server should be up again tonight or tomorrow morning. What is sure is that it will be online before I unplug abime server. |
