New ClassicWB UAE version
I'm currently updating the ClassicWB UAE and decided to go for a different look to the P96 version. As it's exclusively aimed at beginners wanting to run games and WHDload packs I thought I'd use the wallpaper knocked together for my retrobox.
The pack itself will use the newer WinUAE 1.2, which I must say is a fabulous release! Well done Toni - it has the best compatibility yet for WHDload titles across various configs (mixture of P96, native, JIT, non-JIT etc) that are set-up specifically for each of the included workbenches. Only thing I need to ask is, should I use the new look for the UAE or stick with the old P96 colours? OLD style HERE NEW style attached below: (for those who are unaware, the classicwb is meant to have a classic style so please don't compare it to the lovely eye candy of AmiKitt, AIAB or AmiSYS) Last edited by Bloodwych; 27 June 2006 at 12:00. |

I’d say stay with the old theme.
Although idea for new theme is good, I think having the fake wb blue window bar at bottom and left may be slightly confusing. |

Bloodwych: the old style is to me the best style of them custom workbench all (Amikitt and Aiab and AmiSYS) PLUS the various original OS4.0, Morphos etc.
it's classic, useable, clean, colorful. you want to ameliore it? maybe you can update the background or some icons, but really? it is simply great. on my setup, i've changed the color scheme, but i would never do something excessive. if one wants eyecandy he should justly go for that other setups. the new background too don't convices me, it is too randomly assembled and confusing. (no offense) why not to do a contest for a new background here? moreover as ClassicWB is hosted here i think it would be funny if people are interested. |

Looks like it's the old theme then! Although more votes to come I'm sure.
I'm very aware that the old theme is colour co-ordinated and neat, while the new is a clash of styles and not as visually pleasing, however: Remember this isn't replacing the old theme which will remain in the P96 version; it's purely for the UAE 7zip pack which is designed to run WHDload games hence the gaming style wallpaper. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me as I was installing WHDload games, demos and icons. Guess it's a nostalgia thing. Paul, yeah that fade effect does look good, but it looks like I'll be sticking with the original. I'll still keep this wallpaper in the patterns drawer though so peeps can change it if they want. Marco, nice idea but I think I'll just leave things well alone. As you said, why change when people such as yourself can customise it to their own tastes. Thanks for the feedback anyway. |

The default P96 has been done by that guy named Burseg, right? I've seen a few nice design from him and I was wondering where is he now? He's not an EAB member anymore?

I find having that picture of amiga games as a background disturbing and unnecessary....
But keeping the amiga picture centered would look nice (the Amiga only, in the middle of the desktop that is). |

Ol' style is better. This one is somehow eye-hurting.

Stick with the old style m8, more pleasing to the eye but still "classic". If it aint broke...don't fix it!!

video resolution question for P96
Hi All,
I loaded the P96 workbench in Winuae on my PC and the grfx look really good. Question is will my 1200 reproduce the same quality display 800 x 600 with the same colour palette. or will my workbench screen only display a lower screen res and 8 colour palette. (Do i need an addon video card)? my specs are as follows.. 2 mb chipram 4GB Hard drive ACT Turbo 1230 MK3 accelerator and 16 Megs fast ram 68030 @ 40 MHz QFP Thanks All |

Kipper2k. Without a graphics card, your A1200 has no hope of reproducing the p96 graphics seen in CWB on winuae.
With the hardware you have, you can get it to produce 640x512 256 colour workbench through a PC monitor quite easily. |

Kipper2k, the P96 version is for emulators only.
You may have already seen this, but for your A1200 you need to look at the following versions: http://classicwb.abime.net/ MrX Cuci, I will be releasing new versions (with the old look after this poll) once I get some free time. I'm a bit snowed under with real life stuff at the moment, but as always I will return to finish up. |
