WHDload installer is just a text file script. You must have an "installer" program to run it. The official commodore installer works fine on 68000 CPU so somewhere you must have picked up a 3rd party "installer" program

You sure you got 2Mbytes? You probably need to tweak your startup sequence to save RAM.
Emlyn Hughes soccer has almost no requirements. Goal and Great courts II might need more RAM than you have. Check the tool types in each icon and report back. Try adding or removing preload option. |

Thanks Alex that explains it, It was a fresh copy of WB2.1 and it asked for installer so I just copied over the one from my classic WB setup on my A1200, ie 68020 |

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/gaae.htm You can multiboot to save mem for WHDload games too (see the link above for further info). Not sure if it'll be enough though - depends on how many buffers your hard drive is setup to use. The CD32 can run many WHDload titles with 2MB, so as alexh says it should be possible to get many running. |

I only use my A500 /GVP HD8 for Games use really, I have installed GAAE CWB on WinUAE, It's brilliant for serious users, but OTT for my A500 uses. My A1200's however ONLY run your excellent CWB, and as you know I'm setting up a HD to trial the 3.5 Classic WB |

Any advice about HDD using A600s with KS 37.300? I note some people have 800mb HDD running with this KS.
If 37.350 is a must, can anyone help me out? Thanks. |

okay, I didnt have time to work on the real hardware. I quickly set up a winuae environment to mirrior my A600
KS37.300, 1MB Chip RAM, 4GB IDE HDF. Booting from 2.05 Install disk shows DH0:NDOS. HDToolBox fails to see the HDF. It states Driver not installed. I tried HDToolBox from WB3.0 and set its tooltype to scsi.device the HDF still wasnt found. I figured that I ought to try a 40mb HDF. This resulted in the same problem. Lastly I tried the KS37.350 again the HDF could not be found (4GB or 40mb) Manually formating DH0: from the file menu and renaming it WB_2.x allowed HDInstall to run and install WB 2.05 however the 4GB HDF is only seen as 887mb. The HDF still isnt seen by HDToolBox... What am I doing wrong. |

Just saw apost by thomas that said WinUAE uses its own HDD driver, so it works for every Kickstart, even 1.3. On the A600 the HDD driver from the Kickstart is used and 37.299 does not have such.
Shows how much of a winuae novice I am. Think I am in the market for KS 3.1 (A600)... |

Thanks for the advice Toni.
Cane, I got some time to try a 4GB 2.5" HDD today. It is partitioned as DH0: (400MB) DH1: (1.6GB) and DH2: (2GB) on SCSI.device. I used HDToolBox from Install 2.1 to set the Filesystem to FFS. I installed WB2.1 onto DH0: so far it seems to be working fine. I havent tried filling the other two partitions with WHDLoad games yet though. Are there any obvious faults with my use of FFS and SCSI.device that I should be aware of before I launch into filling the drive? |

@DDNI
I also installed WB2.1 with it's hdtoolbox. I'm unaware and haven't experienced any faults using this combination. |
