Ungrabbing mouse on Mac OS X is awkward
Feature-Request: Ungrab the mouse with other/different shortcuts on a mac
Current solution: F12 + G – Release/capture mouse and keyboard input grab. Clicking the middle moue button will also release input grab. On a mac this is completely complicated, because on a standard configured mac you have to press "fn key" + "cmd key" + "F12 key" + "g key" to grab and ungrab the mouse. If you press the F12 key alone this means sound louder, if you press fn+f12 this turns on the mac widget screen. You really have to press fn+cmd+f12 to get to the real f12 and then of course "g" this is really finger acrobatic. Frode can you give us mac users a shortcut, for example left or right cmd+alt to grab/ungrab (as far as I remember virtualbox is using this shortcut) ? The real F12-key is not ideal for macs. I have no middle mouse button on my mouse . Last edited by yesplease; 05 September 2013 at 16:27. |

You should consider buying Palua on the App Store. It is a small app that sits in the Menu bar on your Mac. You can configure it so that when FS-UAE launches, it automatically disables the Mac Media keys so that F12 no longer increases the volume. When you quit FS-UAE, it switches back to normal. Works for me and its only 69p in the UK.

Try Alt + left mouse button, it seems to work by default for FS-UAE on Macs.

@Jason H: Thank you Jason. Nice app, I took a look in the App Store. Will remember that one, but look what Leffmann wrote.
@Leffmann: Yes that works. That's perfect for me, much more convenient and intuitive than fn+cmd+f12+g (because what ones says to the computer is "give me that alt(ternate) mouse)" . But how did you know that famouse trick? I looked in the documentation and can't find… Thank you very much!! @Frode: ungrabbing mouse on mac is not awkward anymore. Hmm, Alt + Left Click fails to ungrab the mouse for me. Anyway, using Palua is a better solution than using the fn key + F12 + other keys. It always made me feel like I was playing a game Twister on my Mac Keyboard.
