Plus game tunes are almost a separate world from demo and sound compo tracks: there are real constraints in space, number of channels and other limitations that makes it a separate topic - plus was focusing on the compositions, that are different from the usual happy or almost amateurish tunes of most productions (including most of mine). Actually want to take a rock from my shoe: there were complains when people do stuff in chiptune style saying that does not sound like an Amiga should - have some news for you: it DOES, because Amiga is so modern and versatile that can sound however we like to, given enough RAM of course... Why has no-one mentioned MOONSHINE RACERS?
A shitty game that Zeusdaz would love to bash, but the main banjo theme is extremely catchy and second to none! [ Show youtube player ] |

It is a nice tune, but this thread is about the BEST Amiga tunes. Nothing about that game is the best. Except maybe the concept, I rather enjoy the Smokey and the Bandit aspect of it.
The intro is hilarious though. The cop takes literally 5 seconds to react to the fact that Moonshiners race by You can almost hear that modem connection sound during that long pause. |

I can't possibly choose "the best tune" for me - there isn't simply such a thing (the same goes for games, books, movies, etc.).
Anyway, the first two pieces of music that come to mind when faced with such a question are (please excuse me if they've been mentioned already) knulla-kuk!!! by Moby (Frédéric Motte) and the Pinball Dreams intro music (whose name on the PC is "lightofday") by Blaizer (Olof Gustaffson): intricate, progressive musical composition, great vibes, high technical quality... pure excellence. But the same could be said of other modules by the same musicians or others... |

Chaos Engine - Richard Joseph at his best. His talent for tune is also never really mentioned
Turrican series - 3 Somtimes gets knocked for it's soundtrack but it has some killer tracks Apidya - very memorable pieces Jim Power- Chris Huelsbeck sure knows how to do greatly formed melody G.n.i.u.s - hardly ever mentioned but the 4 tracks are absolutely brilliant Driving Force - absolutely great rocking tunes Enigma demo - great melodies rather than the usual arpeggio style often in demos Hybris - amazing Rubicon Title music - gorgeous. Amazing understanding of tune. The game is probably ok too but I never got past the title music Lollipop - wonderful music. Magical even and technically very good regards to it's various trills and bits. Definitely worth loading this up |

this to me is a good example of when music has become familiar by it's unique identity. Not all demo music has this I would say despite being very skillfuly put together. I can listen to the most amazingly constructed pieces of Amiga music and still not recognize it in the way you can some of the more molodic pieces like this. It's the same for the Enigma demo which again has a good understanding of structure and melody

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Onslaught had killer music. It was one of the reasons I decided to pull the trigger and buy my Amiga 500 in 1988

Not sure if anyone posted this one, but I always think of the tune from this demo when I think of awesome Amiga music, the melodies and arrangement work so well together.

There's so many great tunes but weirdly, one I've never been able to get out of my head is Fantasy World Dizzy (of all things!) - not the *best* tune but damn is it happy:

Many many great tunes in games, let alone mods and demos!
Not sure if the following have been mentioned specifically but I love them: Deflektor: [ Show youtube player ] Overlander: [ Show youtube player ] |
