yes but my question is rather wanting to see this on the HxC website:
SDCard HxCFloppyEmulator firmware upgrade version x.y.z (ADF file format support) Because I really like the HxC over the Gotek anytime, but the LACK of feeding it ADF files directly is a bit of a nuisance. Yes I know we can convert them easily to HFE but then why can't the unit do an on-the-fly conversion when it detects an ADF file to load? Now that would be a big plus. |

Here is what you can read on the HxC website :

yes but that is USB edition (so Gotek)
when will the SD edition (so HxC drive) support ADF transparently? Or am I missing here something? |

This is for the gotek and the next SD/USB HxC Hardware which is the subject of this thread.
There is no plan to do this on the 2008 PIC SD HxC design. The actual SD HxC is actually mainly used into sensitive industrial domains, and i don't plan to modify the firmware to add specific file format support. |

oh, so there is a new HxC drive coming out based on an STM32 with an SD and USB slot. Ok, I did not know it was in the works, but sounds promising, any ideas when it comes out

What I like of the HxC is the large screen with the names of the games. That is its advantage. Can somehow the Gotek use also a larger screen and show the names of the games?

Matter of preference, I find these small screens quite unusable.

Note 1: To power the device, you can use a external +5V source or the +5V coming from your USB adapter.
Can I just use floppy drive power plug from the ATX PSU? |

I converted my gotek to HxC today and it looks and works awesome!!! I will finally be able to use custom save disks in cannon fodder (as it uses extended adf).

Great News, I have one HxC RevC and a couple of Goteks - the goteks are great but I cant even copy a basic WB disk to an ADF image reliably on the Gotek and the only partition type that works reliably is FAT16.
The only thing Gotek has going for it is the native ADF support. |

The are just a usb to ttl serial cable. The last one i had was just a knock off prolific Chinese one it literally cost $1 on eBay. They don't have a certified windows 8 driver. You can run the machine in unsigned driver mode but i will just wait for the new adapter. |
