Frontier, but I voted for Elite. Don't make threads with titles that only leave one option
I liked X3, but it takes quite some time to get into it. Surely worth a look. |

I played Elite to death on the Commodore 64, reaching Elite status. I also played Frontier to death on the Amiga, though I never managed to get a copy of Elite for the Amiga.
I agree with Bombjacker about Frontier missing that certain something... Has anyone tried Eve Online or Oolite? |

In those old 8bit versions of Elite, was there any special mission to reach Elite status? When I played on my Apple II, I think there was a Constrictor mission, and there was a second one where Thargoids chased you ... but I only got to Deadly. Was there anything else? (ps I played around with Oolite, but for some reason I never took to it. Probably nostalgia. When I boot up Elite now, it runs on a Beebem emulator. Those wire frame graphics just take me to a special place.) |

@ fluxboy
The Constrictor mission was in the C64 version as the second mission. I know, because I too battered it to death on my breadbin 64...... |
