I used to use Dpaint 4 on my A500 all the time, so I dont see any reason why it wouldnt work on an A600.

DP4 is called to be an AGA Version, cause it supports AGA mode for pixeling But it runs fine in other modes too

There are two different versions, DPIV and DPIV AGA. Both will run fine on the A600, but DPIV (not AGA) fucks up on the 1200. AFAIK.

Original DP IV was the first version to go HAM, and works perfectly on A500.
Gosh the box and manual are so cool. Shame that the newer versions were simplified, and shame that the final 5.0 has a few simple bugs that never got attention. |

Do you happen know what those bugs in the 5.0 are, or where I could find a list of them?
Thanks |

One of them is the mouse mirroring function and smoothing, if enabled things go wring and you can't draw as expected.
There we some other glitches, can't remember now, seen it 15 or so years ago for the last time. Having no real alternatives, PPaint took it's place for up to 256c painting and TVPaint for 24bits. Not really a bug, but dose not work with RTG since all advanced panels are separate screens in HAM8.. |

The air brush doesn't work right in DPaint 5.0. It is fixed in 5.2 which is the best and most stable version.
You can use DpaintV in Cybergraphix RTG modes but a lot of functions don't work--like perspective for one. DpaintV works much better in native Amiga modes. HighGFX extends the resolutions possible in Dpaint but it is slow on real Amigas. It works very well with Winuae. So does DpaintV in Cybergraphix. If you increase the chip ram to 8mb, you can use modes that are impossible on a real Amiga. |

5.2 ? Was not that a fake ? Actually wondered what was the final version and why no patches/upgrades were available... Any non cracked images available of 5.1+?

5.2 is available on Tosec. It is a registered copy, not cracked. It was the last Amiga release.

I've been wondering about the 5.2 as well.
I e-mailed Dallas J. Hodgson a while back, and the last version he worked on was 5.0. He was not aware of any later releases, and suggested I ask Lee Özer because she might know more about this 5.2 release, but I never got a reply from her. I guess it's possible the 5.2 was an update or bug-fix per contract with some game studio, which eventually leaked out and made its way around the scene. |

Not fake at all. An update that was probably not widely distributed in the last days of Deluxe Paint for the Amiga. The tosec version will be registered to "Ian Coggins". The only difference from 5.0 that I've noticed is a bug fix for the new airbrush. DpaintV was not widely distributed. It took me years to find a copy of the manual for it after buying a set of 5.0 floppies.

Works fine on PicassoIV with cgfx4....
And doesn't look fake to me. edit: Some limitations on cgfx and a bug in 1080p. The toolbar is unreachable. The mouse stops 200 pixel away from the right border. Smaller resolutions are ok but I would recomend using the native chipset for DPaint. Last edited by Michael Sykes; 04 January 2015 at 03:57. |

It works best in native Amiga modes. In CGX4 you won't be able to use perspective and some brush modes. It is also more prone to crash in CGX4. That seems to happen more in a real Amiga than in Winuae with an emulated PicassoIV. In Winuae you can use SXGA, UXGA and other high resolutions in CGX4 if you set the chip ram to 8mb.
You can fix some of the high resolution display issues with the Overscan settings on the Amiga side. |

Now tell me, the files are the same size, the version number is hacked, the registered info is embedded in so called 5.2, you will get the same file with 5.0 if you register it with same data. If you have any other version, please share, the TOSEC archives have a pure fake 5.2 with all disks different only by extra file_id.diz and updated dates on some of them. |

Jeez man, it is real. I've been using it for years and the airbrush fix is noticible. That might be all they did in 5.2. The new airbrush was one of the big improvements over 4.5 and a bug in it would not be good for sales.
