Unplayable music - modules that don't work

I've found over the years Amiga game/demo music I wanted to hear (through Windows usually), but wasn't able to. So maybe a global thread about these games/demos and possible solutions might be useful.

I'll start with Forgotten Worlds, which Deliplayer 2.50 plays, but not correctly (slow-downs, missing samples) and It Came From The Desert.
For FW, I also tried swapping between FWMP and Mark Cooksey modules. For ICFTD, some its tunes won't play correctly e.g. the hospital tune.

All the ICFWD songs I tried seem to play fine in UADE, as does game_end from FW, I'd say the others are bad rips as they are completely silent.

I can't get F-15 Strike Eagle II's title theme to play in Winamp or Deliplayer.

Plays fine here using DeliPlayer 2.50 and mai's plugin pack (file server -> 'Misc/Music/Misc' -> DeliPlayer2_players.7z). Delete your old players and use the ones contained in the archive.

Btw : The Forgotten Worlds tracks play on DeliPlayer here, just not correctly.

The newest version dosnt require a plug in. However I do remember that the old version had a plugin. I think back in the late 90's to mid 00's you needed them you should be able to get them from www.winamp.com. But if you have decent hardware you should just upgrade versions.

Are you sure it'll run Dave Lowe and/or Mark Cooksey 'modules' and not just MODs? Please have a try with the files from Exotica mentioned in this thread.

interesting I see what your saying it would seem you need to extract the music from the games first?

Err, no. The music is already extracted, but the player is just very different to the SoundTracker/ProTracker format, so you need a special player like DeliPlayer or UADE to listen to them. Thought you had found a new plugin for WinAMP that was capable of playing them, but it seems that's not the case

Thanks, about Forgotten Worlds, there must be a conflict between Deliplayer and the FWMP module player. Tried with EaglePlayer/WinUAE and music comes out fine. Guess I'll rip to MP3. I'll also somehow try to rip the problematic It Came From The Desert tunes, although I only know of the WinUAE/wav approach, hoping the music doesn't stop when the game is paused (if it allows pausing).

I have cooledit pro and use that to make copies of sounds and music from the web and other videos. Works great and goes straight to mp3. There is also fraps it will allow you to get video as well as audio. Then you can post demos to youtube.

I use Total Recorder for similar scenarios, but I think getting a more 'direct' rip from WinUAE's output feature or EaglePlayer for example, should give better audio quality than software that uses the "capture-what-you-hear/see" technique.

For anyone interested, I've uploaded here (just above 20MB, no Zone!) an acceptable Forgotten Worlds WinUAE mp3 game rip. Even the Modland website returned a problematic mp3 file, so the glitch must be with FWMP player. It was also impossible to rip with EaglePlayer/Delitracker, they couldn't play it properly.

edit: I've included the hilarious 'Engrish' heroic comments ("You cannot stop me with paramecium alone!").

Use latest version of Mark Cooksey player for EP, and remove FWMP player (if you are using Deliplayer).

Thanks, tried in Deliplayer alternately "Mark Cooksey" (3.31KB, from EaglePlayer 2.03), and a couple of MC players already in the DP folder, having removed FWMP. They didn't work.
