Amiga 3000 - Can't detect Zorro-III cards
I have a ReAmiga 3000 built a while ago and decided to install an RTG card
I recently built 2 GBAP-II cards, one went into a Can A500++ in a Checkmate case and I was goign to put hte other in this but I decided that since the GBAP-II is a Zorro-II card, it owuld be better off being installed in my A2000 and I take the Cybervision 64/3D sitting int he A2000 and put it in the A3000 since it is a Zorro II/III card. Unfortunately the A3000 will not detect the Cybervision card, it doesn't show up in Picasso or in the early startup menu while the GBAOP-II card is detected with no issues. The Amiga 3000 is a 68030/25 with a Super Buster-11 and Kickstart 3.1. Things I have tried: Swapped the Buster chip for the original Buster-7 Installed freshly written Kickstart 3.2 ROMs Recapped the daughterboard and replaced both logic IC's Double checked all the solder joints on the Buster socket and the daughterboard connectors Replaced the PAL chips with newly written GALs Tested the card with DiagROM Tried the card in all 4 Zorro slots on the daughterboard DiagROM detects the Zorro-III card with the correct Manufacturer ID (8512) but gives random Product Ids (Should be 67, usually reports '0' but sometimes shows as '64') and misreports the RAM size (reports the RAM as 256Mb instead of 4Mb) |

Do you have another Zorro-III card to try?
Or someone nearby with a Zorro-III system to try the CV in? |

I've got a 4000 with a ZZ9000 and an X-Ssurf 100 I can try. Will try the ZZ9000 as the X-Surf is a bitch to get in and out of the slots (already accidentally ripped of a chip trying to force it into the slot)

I think P5 said buster 11 was recommended for CV64/3D but 9 would work, so maybe 7 doesnt work at all.
If the CV works ok in the 4000 then I suspect there's an issue with the buster 11 in your 3000. Is the buster in your 4000 socketed? |

OK, I've had the 4000 apart and tried the following:
The ZZ9000 is detected in Early startup with no issues. The 4000 has BigRAM 256Mb in it so I put that in the 3000, (I was going to do that anyway since I can use the ZZ9000 for 256Mb RAM) it's detected but shows as 'BAD' (it works OK in the 4000). an old Zorro-II 2058 card shows the same way. I've swapped the Buster chip from the 4000 into the 3000 (It's also a Buster-11) but the same issue seen The C64/3D doesn't show up and the RAM cards show as 'BAD'. The C64/3D shows as OK in the 4000 I've also popped the 3660 card from the 4000 into the 3000 just in case, still see the same issue. I suspect there's a fault in one of the data or address lines to the dughterboard |

OK, it looks like I might have abd conact on one of the daughterboard connectors, If I angle the board just right then everything works as it should. A little bit of creative bending of the metal shield has put it in a position where the clips hold the board in the right position and now the BigRAM and the Cybervision are seen and work correctly.
