Scoopex Digs up NEW "Treasures"......

EDIT: OLD VERSION DELETED FROM ZONE, NEW VERSION UPLOADED WITH 2 MORE ADVENTURES ADDED.

Be still your beating hearts, this will trouble Psygnosis not one little bit.
,
So, perusing Twitter, as you do, and occasionally you bump into a Tweet about something interesting (Adidas Championship Football was one such interesting Tweet).

6 Text Adventures have been written...... for pretty much every computer format going, and the Amiga got a version as well.

Well, it got six disks worth of stuff that would fit onto 1 disk, which is exactly what we did, put all 6 text adventures onto the 1 disk.

Are they any good? You as always get to decide.

In the Zone you shall find a rather obvious filename, and remember, and as always........ Enjoy.... or not!

Looks to me that they are just normal Z-code games running on Amiga version of Frotz interpreter.

Text adventures don't exactly take up much space (in stark contrast to point and click ones), 6 per disk is still almost 150k each but The Lost Treasures of Infocom is apparently 19 games across 6 disks so they're twice as big. Mind you, if these are half as good as most Infocom games they'll keep fans going for a while.

Never heard of these, though 630,588 KB for 6 Adventures is ridiculous

Transferring the ADF to a Single HDF works as well

Some PS1 Games games were tiny on a 600MB cd like

American Pool PAL 1.2MB
Flying Squadron (Europe) 17MB

etc etc, there was plenty of wasted space on CD's

I think the used space on the disk could be reduced. If you look at the numbered executables, they are all the same except for the last one.
It was already mentioned that those are Z-code games, so it might be possible to load the data files as argument with one interpreter instead of having multiple variants of it.
I haven't tried it but it might be possible. Not sure if this somehow affects saving or something like that.

Sadly not.

Originally all the adventures were hard coded to look for 'story.data' which would obviously have caused issues with putting on 1 disk, do I had to rename the data files so they could all exist on the same disk.

Sure, resourcing the Interpreter files and making it accept parameters would reduce the disk space, but thats not how it was originally configured.

I think its reduction from 6 disks to 1 Is more than adequate, further reducing disk capacity at this stage is frankly a bizarre "complaint"

It was just an idea. I recently tried https://aminet.net/package/game/role/Frotz and that accepted renamed data files. At least when run from WB using the file requester. And it also works with these games. So I wasn't complaining, just throwing out an idea.

Wasn't taking it personally chap, but reducing disk space wouldn't have achieved anything other than disk space reduced and as there was no more of these text adventures to put on, I chose the easiest method for the end user to play them.

Not that I'm expecting many downloads lol

always like me some old school adventure games, as long as they arent as annoying/insane as some like the incredible hulk on the c64, i recall not even leaving the first room you start in due to being tied to a chair and only got out a month or more later due to needing a guide to tell me how to escape the chair. during that wait however i was on the verge of tearing my scalp off never mind hair.

Very nice, but there's still some 2500+ Z-code adventures left, maybe you could squeeze them in.

I'm only doing the 2023 competition versions, there would have been 9 but its not compatible with the Amiga Interpreter, it crashes into memory.

In all honesty, I don't think there is much appetite for this kind of thing, graphic adventures really took over, this is a curiosity, nothing more.
