Any Good Tennis Games on Amiga?!, this certainly ain't one.
Passing Shot, I never saw or heard of this Tennis game back when the Amiga was ruling the gaming world and thankfully I didn't, I'm sure there is probably even worse ones than this but still,...It's pretty awful for Amiga standards.
Does anyone ever remember playing this classic back in the day?! RayC is the requester this week and after playing it no way was I going to ask him to choose another. PASSING SHOT SGT Video Review: [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by ZEUSDAZ; 24 March 2024 at 03:32. |

I think the Amiga has a lot of great tennis games, besides the ones mentioned above I'd add Tennis Cup 1 & 2.

I didn't know this was an arcade port, either way I'd be finding myself erasing the disk pretty quickly if it was a pirate copy thats for sure!

I was so disappointed because the arcade game "Passing shot" was so good! In the amiga port you cannot control the player's sprite, and you just need to move the stick to hit. What idiot could make such a conversion?

Great Cours, Great Courts II, Super Tennis Champ, Center Court 1 & 2.
Passing shot should have been 64 colors on Amiga, regarding the small play window, and the fact that graphically it uses bands of graphics or squares. Having only 16 colors is just rubbish, no care. |

Not being able to see your player when the ball is in the opponent's half makes it far too difficult to return shots, and means that long rallies are a rarity. Bad scrolling exacerbates the issue. I've just played the first (one-set) match at easiest difficulty level and I think only one point lasted more than 4 shots. Still, I won it.
As for the question asked in the title, I guess it's between Super Tennis Champs and Pro Tennis Tour II / Great Courts II? |

Completely at random we got Pro Tennis Tour 2. To this day, I don't really know why because we were really not into sports games but I guess because we just got the Miggy we were just trying some random stuff and it may have been in a magazine that we we got to help guide what games to get first.
It was pretty good, but still a sports game so ultimately not something I spent a lot of time with. They won't ever mesh with me unless there is violence involved. |

another example of poor arcade conversion where most amiga Tennis game originals were good.
I remember playing a fantastic tennis game on Atari 400 or 800XL around 1987. I had really a great time, and couldn't reproduce that with any other tennis game on the miggy though. |

I have the v1.1 (fixed by Bored Seal) WHDLoad version of this and the title music continues to drone three notes at random throughout the match (shown here at of Kim Justice's mini-review at 15m 47s). Anyone know of a fixed version (or config to lose this bug?) ?

played Tennis Cup to absolute death with a friend and it doesn't seem all that great at first but we couldn't stop playing it. Never really tried the second game other than for a short time but it seemed almost the same game from those impressions
Super Tennis Champ is very much like Super Tennis on the Snes regards to how it feels to actually play and is probably what I would advise to anyone wanting an excellent game that is quick to get into. While I always found Great Courts to be an amazingly presented game, it's also a little fussy personally speaking and not as tight in comparison to Super Tennis Champ. Definitely worth a look though and having just watched some youtube footage, I might have to give it another go as it seems better than my time with it suggested to me Last edited by Adropac2; 17 November 2023 at 16:43. |
