pctask/pcx

Iknow Winuae supports Shapeshifter for some time...

How easy or hard would it be for Winuae to support programs such as PC Task or PCx? Also, the ability to boot from a 720K dos disk/image?

I don't think that had anything to do with 1.4.5 betas..

They don't need anything special support.. Shapeshifter thing is not UAE feature either (basically), it just automatically adds Kickstart "do not use first 4k of RAM for anything else than exception vectors" patch.

PC floppy images are already supported, for some reason PCTask do not like them (I traced it sometime ago and it seems to think there are crc errors or something weird) but PC0: etc.. work just fine.

I have several 1.44MB images.... for DOS and WfW3.11.....

Would be neat to use PCTask under WinUAE to get an "oldskool DosBox" and make my mates even more jealous.....

But... how to make those images "available" for both WinUAE and (more importantly) PCTask?

Any 720k or 1440k file is mounted as a PC formatted floppy.

Pc Task does work under WinUae but Ive never got a disk image to work Id also like to find a tool for creating Pc Disk images

You have to create a small HD file on a real Amiga containing all the files of the Boot disk that way you can skip using Floppys - If you need that File let me Know and ill have a look.

Maybe if you mount a HD under Winuae source = Pc Floppy Drive?

Confirmed :-)

But you should add img and ima to the list of supported file name extensions in the ADF file requester, because Windows disk image tools usually call their files .img or .ima.

.ima is already included. .img not because there are cd images with .img extension.

use the program winimage v8 to create a .IMA file from any DOS boot floopy
start pctask or pcx then insert that IMA file on winuae
that's all

On a real amiga, I found using isomount to mount a PC boot floppy works well.

How the hell can I get PCTask to switch disk images?

I am trying to install WIN3.1 using floppy images mounted with ISOMOUNT.
I get so far, but when I try to unmount the Image and mount the next requested disk, I get issues.
Either the unmount crashes the amiga or more commonly it seems to unmount but when I mount the next disk PCtask still sees the old disk..... aaaarggghhh

Is disk switching in PCTask only compatible with physical floppies?
