A1200D 4xKickstart Switcher
I had the idea of making a Kickstart switcher for the A1200 for a long time and in the end I designed a small PCB that allows us to have 4 standard Kickstart's of 512Kb or 1MB each.
The PCB does not interfere with keyboard, accelerators or Indivision's. The clockport is covered, but a cable can be pulled out from underneath. I have never used the clockport anyway, nor do I think I will ever use it. You can use two M27C160 EPROMs or MX29F1615 EEPROMs The project is free and can be downloaded from my Github -> https://github.com/merlinkv/A1200_4xKickstart_Switcher My A1200D is working now with: - KS 3.1 Original - DiagROM 1.3 Beta - KS 3.9 BB4+ 1MB - KS 3.2 (Hyperion) |

Having verified that my kickstart switcher PCB for the A1200 is working properly. I've been working on a Kickstart 3.9 with some mods.
With Remus, we need to create two ROMs, one normal and one extended. See the pics with the content of my ROMs, maybe will be useful in case any one want to make one. Normal ROM Extended ROM In the end I could not use the BB4 scsi.device because it had some compatibility issues. I have added the latest version of icon.library from Aminet, pfs3aio 19.2, SmartFileSystem 1.279, my registered libraries mathffp.library and mathieeesingbas.library (http: //www.hsmathlibs.de/index_e.html), etc. The module ROMFixes 2.7 that you see in normal ROM is a module included in Remus that, when compiling, fixes bugs in some ROM modules. The result is a Kickstart 3.9 that boots from CF like a bullet, runs very stable and allows us to load games from real or Gotek floppy drives without problems. Some updates on my KS 3.9 BB4+.
Many changes on the Kickstart: New boot screen and the boot time -without HDD or floppy inserted- now take only a couple of seconds. Can be seen here: [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by merlinkv; 14 December 2021 at 20:02. |
