Need help with WB
Hi there
![]() I have made a backup of My Workbench 1.3 ADF using Winuae By using the Shell Diskcopy from df0:to df1: command (I am Backing up the ADF to a Blank ADF). That was a successful Operation. However. I have rebooted the Emulator booting the Backup using quickstart A500 mode. I have tried to modify my backup by typing (in the Shell) ed s/Startup-sequence and get the following message: Unable to load Ed insufficient free store. i want to modify my backup image for use in WinUAE but this message is preventing me from doing so. Can u help pls. Edit: I am also using Kickstart 1.3. with WB1.3 Last edited by DeafDaz; 07 January 2012 at 22:31. |

I thought it might be not enough memory but, no matter how much you increase the memory the problem persists.
Try notepad instead. BTW, you can copy adf's in windows. |

Blast! now I need lha in ADF format to make copying and installing .lha files from aminet as the bloody thing is in .rar format I prefer .zip or ADF as they are easier for me to use. I have downloaded Textengine from Aminet and i am in need of LHA toextract it.
![]() also tried notepad in wb 1.3 the files look corrupted when using Notepad to edit and change Startup-sequence. |

WinRAR can open lha files.
Have you got the Extras disk? There is a program in the tools dir named 'memacs' for editing. EDIT: If you are using the Amiga Forever WB 1.3.adf, then ED wont work. You have to use an original WB 1.3. adf. Last edited by Arnie; 08 January 2012 at 01:03. |

You can find lha here http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/lha
If you need to transfer files to adf, an easy method is to use a folder in windows, copy the lha files to it, then mount the folder as a HardDrive and unpack the lha files to the HardDrive. |

I am having problems with the lha program. I am Using winuae v1.3.3 I Have used the Lha.run files 2 self extract the lha files to a blank .ADF after extracting the program. I noticed the files contain Lha_68k, Lha_68020, lha68040_ and the neccesary docs. I have tried to extract a .lha file on WB 1.3 and 3.0 With the same result, I cd'd in20 df1: (where the Lha file and the target .lha file is) I typed lha_68k x Ced_ed_v4.lha ram:
I get a message Unable to open file. can u help? |

What are you using to boot WinUAE with, the A500 default?
The syntax you are using is correct, is the file Ced_ed_v4.lha copied to the floppy ok? |

What did Amiga Forever do to break ED? Are there other issues with Amiga Forever's Workbench versions?
**EDIT** I did discover the issue with ED, though. It seems that it is not compatible with "24-Bit Addressing" of the 68EC020 chip. I don't know how that got turned on in my WinUAE, and I haven't tested the disks on my physical Amiga 2000 yet (it's boxed up right now.) However, if I clear the "24-Bit Addressing" box under "CPU and FPU" in WinUAE it seems to work just fine. Last edited by Pheonix; 28 February 2015 at 06:45. |
