IDE Splitter gone Boom
So, while trying to get my CF to work with my IDE HD and CDRom, its now given up, looking at the board, I cant see what would go boom
Anything anyone can suggest I have plugged in a CF directly to motherboard and works fine. If I plug a drive on Channel 1, light never goes off. |

Which model splitter is it?
I had an IDEFix97....shorted the thing out on some bit of metal while I was messing around with the system....found a burn in the PAL sticker....so that was that I thought....PAL dead...board not fixable! BUT...later I acquired another....for some reason I de-soldered the PAL chip and found a burnt track under it....fixed the track and now it works! (and mine was most certainly user error!) Not saying you have the same situation.....but you just never know! |

I honestly believe my Amiga is PROCESSED, just after I posted this (I had spent hours), the thing kicked in to life, died, life died, and now seems ok!

It's very easy to get those connectors 1 row too far to the front or back, and that's hard to see too. The result can vary from not doing anything to burning tracks, depending on which pins are missed. I've done it myself in the (distant) past, perhaps that's all that was wrong?
