Winuae RTG pointer clipping + artifacts
These are are actually 2 different 'bugs'
- Clipping: as far back as my winuea.exe logs go there is the problem that the bottom row of pixels gets clipped. this can be demonstrated by moving mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen when using a RTG windowed screenmode. (oldest Winuae i have is the 1460 release) - Artifacts: this appeared somewhere in the 1500 beta series. last .exe i have is 1500b12 and the problem is present there. tis can be demonstrated by moving the mouse to the right border of a Windowed RTG screen, on which the mouse pointer becomes a black vertical line as long as it is on that border. moving the mouse upwards along the right border produces artifacts. These problems are not present when using non-rtg resolutions. Most likely this is irrelevant but i'm testing this on Win7x64Ultimate Retail version. Will test full-screen modes tomorrow see attached screenshot for both 'bugs' in action. on the right side there are artifacts left over from grazing the right side and the pointer is parked in clipped area. Can't duplicate (and many would have reported it already if it is common issue)
What display card and driver? EDIT: do you use some special mouse pointer image? Last edited by Toni Wilen; 12 February 2010 at 09:34. |

ok, traced the clipping and the artifacts to something in my WBStartup
however the pointer still gets transformed to a black vertical line when moved to the right hand border. Can't seem to pinpoint the culprit for this last type of behaviour. i guess i'll have to download and install some version of CWB so see if it's hardware related i've got a Tri Fan Asus ATI Radeon HD 4780 X2 using 9.12 ATI Catalyst Drivers I'll try to see if updating these does anything Last edited by smoorke; 12 February 2010 at 15:16. |

Does it stop happening if you add (or uncomment) softsprite=yes in uaegfx.info tooltypes?
1.5 introduced hardware (non-flickering) mouse cursor support. Either there is a bug that only happens in very rare situations or there is Amiga program that assumes something that does not work with hardware mouse cursorrs. |

Adding softsprite=yes actually fixes both the clipping, artifacts and deformation of the pointer.
Thanks EDIT System: is a mix of Os3.9 and years of collecting tools and other stuff totalling 38 MB in 4105 files so it might prove very hard to find that 'Amiga Program' that may or may not be the cause Edit: i now seem to have trouble reproducing the clipping bug. also some other stuff has gone haywire lol. it's definatly amiga software related tho. That is not a fix. Now mousepointer is flickering when moving or graphics behind gets updated..

forgive me but i'm not noticing the diffrence in whether or not the pointer flickers with SoftSprite=Yes|No so i'm counting it as a fix.
anyways finding the culprit will be difficult as now i'm experiencing other graphic corruptions. arrows next to horiz scrollbar are messed up and WbClock is Displaying horizontal lines where there shouldn't be any. has nothing to do with SoftSprite setting Last edited by smoorke; 13 February 2010 at 15:12. |
