Copyright holder field
Hi,
Thanks again for maintaining and updating GBA . I would like to suggest a supplementary field in the db : - The copyright holder Usually, it's the publisher, but sometimes the company that released the game was a subsidiary... Also, it could help us to compare the SPS ratio (number of games published / number of games SPS'd) from different game publishers, all things equal (please, don't make a fuss about it, it's just an idea) |

And where am I supposed to put this information?
I can't make new fields because as has been said before, I did not make the GameBase program. |

I would say instead of the 'Yes' in the Commercial field.
Non-commercial games would simply have this field blank. What about it ? |

The commercial field is a tickbox, it can't be anything else but yes/no.

Also, finding out who owns the copyright for a game would be a massive undertaking since;
- most of the companies no longer exist. - some have become other companies. - we have no access to the commercial contracts between publishers and developers, if they ever existed. - tracking down developers is difficult (times 6,000). |

Plus it's not like they are going to notify you when they sell it etc.
I still do not know who owns all the copyrights and publication rights to Thalion games and there are only a handful and I personally know the coders and the company owners! |

I see...
Then may be simply presenting the software house/publisher this way : e.q. for Menace Psygnosis (Psyclapse), 1988 |

I have been told about the limitations of the original Gamebase and I sure know about them, since I installed GBplayer.
I wasn't aware it required special authorization to propose improvements for GBA. May be you're simply reacting to the word 'copyright' itself. In this case, may I suggest to take a look at the LemonAmiga presentation, there is a copyright line (first line) and it corresponds to Psygnosis in my example.
