Detecting blitter availabilty

Is there a way to detect whether custom blitter handling can be done in a system friendly app (with OwnBlitter/DisownBlitter)? Some hardware and OS combinations do not have the blitter, and in these case some other code path could be applied. I'd specifically like to keep the old direct blitter access for best classic HW performance.

Noresint as a tooltype in WHDLoad will error if the blitter is in use. idk if that determines availability though.
