simon the sorcerer AGA stuttering
I'm trying to run the whdload version of the game via winuae and the game seems to suffer from some rather bad stuttering shortly after getting past the protection check. I'm using winuae 2.8.1 and whdload 17.0(i know it needs updating). The setup i'm using is roughly similar to an a1200, aga chipset 2MB chip and 2MB fast mem, 515kb of slow. Workbench is 3.1. I'm using a windows folder thats being read as the HD. I've tried setting the cpu as high as a 68040, but that doesn't seem to help at all. 68060 causes an immediate software failure. Having JIT on or off seems to not affect it at all. Thoughts on settings to try, to fix the stutters of this game?
EDIT Fixed it by upping the amount of fast RAM set. Last edited by rmcin329; 05 November 2014 at 21:30. |

try to set 8 meg of fast ram and to set the display to lores and line mode single.
The game needs more than 6 meg of fast ram for preloading. Tell me if the stutters are gone ??? If you run it from cli just do : dh0:c/whdload slave=simonthesorcereraga.slave preload changing the cpu to 68040 won't help put it back to 68020. 68040 just often help with winuae for demos from demoparty and big huge late cd-rom games (not cd32 games), in fact programms which were written for 68040. Nearly no game needs a 68040 during the commodore area. edited:If you still have problems with this game just upload your config file, i'll have a look. by the way what is your pc specs ? An Amiga 1200 should NOT have any slow ram.
