kick40068.A1200 Invalid?

Hi guys,

Trying to run Pinball Fantasies AGA and Pinball Dreams AGA and I get the following:

error during 'resload_LoadKick'
invalid kickstart image 'devs:kickstarts/kick40068.a1200'

I obtained this image from my Amiga Forever 2011 and renamed as per the WHDLoad instructions. Both it and the RTB file are present as is the rom.key file from AF.

Is this a known problem?

Another question is, why do I need the ROM image for an A1200 to run a game on a real 1200 with 3.1 ROMs installed? Can't it just use the real thing?

at a guess, i think because of where you got the kickfile you whould also need the key file.

if im wrong can someone correct me.

I have the key file in the same place as the roms.

EDIT:also obviosly its a good idea to delete the old one first and the key.
EDIT2:a know this sounds obvios but do you have these files in devs/kickstarts


i just tried what you did and..........it wont work on mine either,so i put the old ones back.

I didn't think that file contained the actual roms. I'll download it and try it later.

Just tried the Pinball AGA games and I get an "error 219" (seek failure). The non AGA titlies work ok though.

Edit: Copied a new file over and it's working now.

Edit2: It appears you need an original A1200 kickstart image as the AF one's give an error message.

I've just copied the ones from the skick346 package. Also grabbed the image of the actual rom in my machine, just in case they don't work. It seems to be just the AF A1200 image that is dodgy, the A500 one works fine.

I'll report back when I've finished copying all the demos over from my CF card. I lose CF functionality (PCMCIA) when I put my Viper back in.

OK, getting miffed now. Tried the skick346 files. Didn't work. Also grabbed the actual image from my A1200, named it kick40068.A1200 put it into Devs:Kickstarts and THAT is also coming back as invalid.

What am I doing wrong here?

OK, grabbed my ROM image again, saved it to RAM: then copied to DEVS:Kickstarts and is now working. Hmmmm.

Oh well, play time!
