Rare Games - what are they good for?

Hello,

i just have downloaded this pack

GameBase Amiga - Games (Update v1.4 to v1.4.3; Shrunk Edition).7z

and later the Rare Game Pack

GameBase Amiga - Rare Games (Update v1.4 to v1.4.3).zip

and all rare games are included in the big zip (comparing A to C)

so what are Rare Games good for?

Mmh, don't really understand your question but you can copy all rare games into the A-Z folder and play them.

Well, I am aware the big game packs zip with paths (which was not intended, I have yet to fix it) when using the provided RUNME.bat, but that's only an issue when scanning with a ROM manager, because it'll report it as an error (they'll work just fine in GBA and rebuilding fixes it for the ROM manager). That does affect all games in the big Games packs though, not just the rare games.

Rare Games are those not included in a recent (not the newest, but new) TOSEC set and hence considered rare and hard to find. The Rare Games packs are provided so those who already have almost all games can just rebuild their TOSEC set and fill the gaps with the downloaded games without having to download everything, wasting their bandwidth and mine.

Why does nobody read my freakin' footnotes?
``These files are disks (.adf) or versions of disks that are likely not to be widely available (and might have been discovered or created specifically for GameBase Amiga). Please note that the complete Games packs (on mass hosts and DeadwoodInc.net) already include these files.''
Admittedly that Deadwood reference is a little outdated, but it still explains everything, doesn't it?

Well, GameBase Amiga is clearly intended for players, seeing as there's only one version (the best version) included for every game, etc.

But it would seem like you got everything.
