Hmmm, I'm definitely no "demo" expert but... best demo bits ever coded on MC68000???

I mean, the concept is ok and the tune is cool but the graphics remind me of something from the MS-DOS era.

Nothing ground-breaking; and that's what I expect from demos really

An Amiga has and can surely do way better than this

So true. Demo coders try to squeeze modern effects from more powerful platforms into the A500, loosing all the design in the process. So we have some epic effects looking like bunch of unrelated dots or polygons. All of this precalculated on some PC.

Again I'll repeat; I'm no demo expert... I did watch a few back in the day and they blew me away with polygons / transitions / effects that I never thought possible on the Amiga

We are now 25+ years on; so for a demo to be awesome I'd expect something absolutely killer and to which I'd be "OMG; that is f$%king amazing"

Anyway, I recently watched "Ikadalawampu" and that was very cool

Yes; I know it's in a completely different league being targeted on a high-end Amiga but still:

I'd say : good enough but not really impressive. Not the best demo bits ever coded for 68000 (the bar is high !).

The 3D scenes are cool, also the textured rubber-cube. Otherwise the demo looks like a slideshow to me, moving backgrounds with some lightnings, rather boring in my opinion. Desert Dream is still my No. 1 on A500. :-)

I dunno - this is right up there. Especially the 3d parts on disk 2. Both this and The Fall are real treats.

Congrats to TBL on another ace demo!

Without going into any details, the best demo that Black Lotus has ever made. By far.

The speed at which they push the shaded vectors is astonishing to me. Other than that, they completely sidestep the limitations of the platform, thus avoiding the same mine which almost every 060 demo walks into.

Extra points: no text, no scrollers, no greets, almost no spinny-cuby-blenkvectors, no sad PC demoscene ripoffs.

I liked it but in all honesty, I preferred De Profundis by Lemon/Dreamdealers/Oxygene.

Also the graphical style of the goat demo was awesome as well.

Not the best demo ever seen but for a 2 disks A500 demo it's .
The demo is smooth, there is no slow-down in the music nor in the animation, and the colours are cool. Maybe with a different music it could be better as with this one I also felt a bit of a "slide-show" effect (instead of a "Whaou!" effect).

Yes, I would also prefer De Profundis over this one, but it is still an amazingly nice effort. Both are very good.

I feel that Eon and last year's winner, The Fall, are two of the most impressive OCS demos ever. De Profundis was better story line-wise, but Eon was just more impressive. I was a bit disappointed they didn't do something with The Fall's 3d textured engine in De Profundis, I was expecting an improved version of it, I think Dan had hinted that much. Still a great demo. All in all, this year's compo was stellar!

Liked Eon a lot more than De Profundis, which felt more like that usual collection of Amiga demo effects I have seen too many times now.

Eon felt really well made.

And that polygon stuff at the end is outright incredible.
I guess in the end it comes down to if you want to see demo effects, or more story driven stuff.

I am a bit disappointed by all these AGA 060 demos.
With all that power all they ever do are these boring morphing objects with reflection shaders it feels to me.

I LOVED Revision 2019's Amiga stuff this year! Saw it all yesterday on WinUAE.

The thing is that times have moved on in the Demoscene:

I look at all the early stuff from the late 1980s, all those constant scrollers, bobs, copper bars and awful sampled simple tunes, all done by countless groups simply trying to one-up each other by the smallest margins so they can "break records", and I'm bored out of my mind.

It's when demos actively started to design their own unique looks and effects and tried different things back in the early 1990s, that I began to sit up and take notice. These demos at least had new samples, new effects and transitions, and were nowhere near as boring as the 80s stuff.

Then in the mid-to-late 90s, the PC influence took hold (thanks to Second Reality) and it was arguable whether Amiga demos were still Amiga demos for copying it, especially since some purists hated AGA, but I personally liked it, as I saw these early MS-DOS demos myself and loved them, from a Hornet Underground CD-ROM. By this time, I had gotten a PC and lost track of Amiga demos.

But today? In the last 20 years? The Amiga demoscene has come such a long way, it is nothing like the old stuff, and the design and effects have come in leaps and bounds, and it is still possibly the best Demoscene platform out there (the PC is waaayyyy overpowered, is capable of anything, and thus is boring) - Revision 2019 was the Year of the Amiga (as it is every year).

For me that happened with the Wild Copper /Megalos Demo in 1988.
I felt like someone beamed me into the future.. And it was amazing...

I love when demo is exactly synced with music.
