Video to scart cable problem
Hello everybody,
I tried to build a video cable for my PAL TV, but the only thing I get is a black screen. (and a jump to the scart channel on my TV ) The schematic I used can be found on: http://www.ntrautanen.fi/computers/h...migaScart.html I tried following to get it working: 1) All connections and 2 resistors work (tested with multimeter) 2) Disconnected Pin 16 from scart side, this does nothing and the TV does not jump to the scart channel anymore. Does anybody know a trick to get it working? Is it correct that Pin 17 Amiga must be connected to pin 17 scart? I saw schematics which connect 16 Amiga to 17 scart. Thanks, Maurice |

I read that your TV must support RGB input.

But I thought it works with all PAL TVs with Scart. I know that friends of mine had them connected to really crappy TVs and mine was a newer Philips TV set which is now 7 years old

The Scart plug holds lines for composite video, for S-Video and for analogue RGB. The Amiga only feeds RGB to it. Setting the right pin (probably pin 16) to the right voltage should tell the TV which of the signals to use. Usually you can also choose the signals manually by pressing the A/V button on the remote control repeatedly.
If the TV has more than one Scart plug, then probably only one of them supports RGB. Also if it is labelled "Euro-AV", it most likely does not support RGB input. The manual of the TV should tell you more details. |

As Thomas says, televisions usually only have 1 RGB capable SCART socket. If you have more than 1 SCART socket, then try the other.
If you have an A1200 you can always connect a phono Jack to pin 20 instead of composite sync and connect that to composite video output socket on the A1200. That makes a SCART cable which will work in RGB if it is an RGB SCART socket or work (at a poorer quality) in composite if it is a composite SCART socket. Hello,
I own an Amiga 1200 with a blizzard 1220/4. What do mean with connecting that jack plug. Do I have connect the inner connection (pin) and leave the outer not connected. I looked up my TV, but found no good information about it. It is a 55cm stereo TV with 1 scart plug labeled EXT. The model is : Philips 21PT440B/03. If anybody could help me, that would be great. Thanks anyway, Maurice |

The inner is composite video, wire that to pin 20 as I said.
The outer is video ground, leave it unconnected, or wire it into pin 17. ***************** NOTE ******************** You shouldnt need to do this! I dont recommend you do this. I recommend you seek out a TV that supports RGB. Last edited by alexh; 01 June 2006 at 18:03. |
