ACA1230/56 in Action
I forgot how awesome this little card is!
Grabbed from Kipper2k in his recent sales it arrived today. Installed and working like a charm. 12.25 MIPS Nice boost to the IDE ADoom 15-20fps - Not bad for an 030! Not far off 040 speeds... And pretty capable at pushing ShapeShifter along in 800x600 (SuperPlus via Indivision AGA MkII) |

Wow 12.25 MIPS is a good value. I get 9.62 MIPS with my ACA 1233.
Can you achieve better results with DBurst on? |

I've got burst and cache on so I'm sure this gives a little boost.
You'll need to check the acatune readme to check what options are available to your card. 9.62 mips is blizzard territory so no slouch. |

Yep, A1200XL was the sole 030 card to exceed 10 mips on the good old days with it's EDO support.

Nice Retrofan. What ACATune options do you have set? Any other patches?
I'm running OS3.9 (Classic Workbench) BB2 updates only. I assume your IDE Speed is FastATA accelerated |

Yep the 1230/56 is a great little card, really loved mine
Make sure you use the fastest version of ACATune Steve, it's one of the older releases (sorry, can't remember the version number). |

You can see the options in the AKReal 8.4 s-s. I use also the hole through MMU using an script that you can find on WBStartup/Disabled and you should move to WBStartup, but I don't know if it's necessary. I started using it for the ACA31/42 to be recognized by ACATune.
Yep, it has a Fast ATA MKIV that gives that speed in DH0. About ShapeShifter it has to be surely faster if you use MuEVD as video driver, as you've got MMU. |

there is no ide boost
I get 2.700.000 b /sec on a 80 gb hardisk, in a old tra1200 020 turboboard and the 040 is lot faster, ex the 040/40mhz reach 30 mips, that's almost 3x speed of the faster 030 so calculate that doom on a 040 run at 40/50 fps, but doom is locked at 35fps, so will reach maximum speed |

Ide is faster compared to the blizzard it replaced in my setup but of course all setups will be different.
I've played doom on Apollo 040 25mhz 18mips but I don't recall it being much faster. Of course 040 @40mhz will be a lot quicker but will not reach FPS you state. |

You can take Amiga DOOM FPS with a pinch of salt
Most of them (I'm talking AGA 68k) won't go much above a 'real' 15 FPS |

just done a test on winuae on my pc, Adoom 1.4 ( aminet) it gets locked at 15-16 fps (AGA pal-low res) however if I change to UAE gfx, then it reach 35 fps constant Adoom have a bug in AGA that which prevents going further 15-16 fps and it doesn't matter how fast is the CPU btw, which other amiga port of doom exists? I want to test it how many fps can reach on AGA |

ODAMEX AGA still has the FPS code so that's your best bet for a high FPS figure in AGA Not saying it's very accurate though... |

I just tested this :http://aminet.net/game/shoot/ZDOOM_AGA.lha this port is far better than Adoom, you get 35 fps or maybe 50 in AGA, is very smooth despite there is no FPS count, is obvious is not locked: you can feel the difference in smoothness between 15fps in Adoom VERSUS 35 fps or 50 fps in zdoom surely a 040/40 mhz must do 40 or 50 fps here |

I have one of these babies on an 1D.1 A1200
Had it since the day it came out, one of the first brand new bits of amiga kit I bought infact. |
