Gotek flashing problems
I'm trying to flash a new gotek. I'm on a windows 10 pc. Which I have used once before to successfully flash a gotek with FF. I put my new gotek into programming mode, but it's not recognised by windows. I installed drivers for it. The stmicro program actually sees device in dfu mode. And it seems to flash it. Transfer success. Putting on my A500, the led display is blank, not even 000. All cables are correct. The green led light does flash on. I thought I might have a faulty gotek. So I got another. Same thing happened exactly.
1. It looks like the firmware hasn't transferred? The dfu device doesn't appear in windows like it did when I did this previously. But seems to be seem by stmicro defuse 2. Does a unflashed gotek attached to Amiga usually show anything on the LED display? 3. Could I have 2 faulty gotek? Cheers Rich |

With nothing connected, it should show "F-F" on the display, once power is connected.
Are you uploading the correct file to the device? Put the device back in upgrade mode, and try again. If you can see it again in DFU mode, then you can try again. If not, get a usb programmer, and flash it that way. |

Have you removed the jumpers that you put in to get it into programming mode? Are your solder connections clean? (Not sure if you soldered in jumper pins or if you just soldered in some wires to get it into programming mode.) Did you use the USB serial method or the USB male-to-male cable method? Good luck! |

So it seems I was doing it wrong all along.
I was correctly putting into programming mode. Connecting it correctly to the pc. But I was using the st micro software. I was using the uploading button. Kept asking me to overwrite dpu file. I was wrongly overwriting the file. I should have used the upgrade option. Now it flashed ok. I'm an idiot. Fun trying to work it out, but time I'll never get back. Cheers Rich |
