okay good news - i got it working, i am not sure if it was due to finding a different version of the whdload Falcon+mission disks or something else i did while playing around with settings in FS-UAE.
now what happens when i start he game and the intro box comes up and lets me select whihc mission disk i can use - it will proceed to load that disk (whereas before it was unable to do so)
